5 days. 203 miles. Albany to Yonkers down the Hudson Valley on the Empire State Trail.

NBX family members Barb and Linda (plus two friends from CT) took on the full ride: beautiful scenery, great camping 3 of 4 nights, and close to perfect weather aside from a little rain on day one and some heat on days 3 and 4.

There were a few detours too. A 60+ mile day of hills on Day 3 rolled into 70 miles on Day 4, thanks to some off-trail navigation. The saving grace? Day 4 had more down than up. 🙏

Barb shared a few photos from the road. Enjoy.

What a weekend, NBX family! 🚲

Y’all were OUT there. Between Ride the Rhode, a few groundhog sightings on the bike path, Sunday morning gravel grinding, and Saturday’s IJAH 70-miler, there were miles and there were smiles all around.

Sure, it was hot — but that just makes the downhills sweeter. Hydrate, high-five your ride buddies, and keep showing up. This is what it’s all about.

That’s how you do a Thursday. Last night’s NBX Shop Ride rolled out at 6:15 like always, but the post-ride cookout in the yard took it up a notch. Perfect weather, good miles, and plenty of smiles to go with them.

Big thanks to everyone who came out and made it a great night. If you missed it, the grill forgives, but it doesn’t forget. We do this every Thursday at 6:15 PM from the shop. Details at nbxbikes.com or on our Strava club page.

We’d love to see you next week.

Tuesday night gravel crew showed up and so did the local wildlife. A little bit more pavement than usual, and way more creatures than expected, zero complaints.

See you next week. 🚵

Trek Checkmate SLR Project One — $9,500 (MSRP $12,995)

We have absolutely lost our minds.

Trek’s fastest gravel race bike ever. Project One Checkmate colorway. 13-speed SRAM Red XPLR AXS. 800 Series OCLV carbon. Size 52. A bike that retails for nearly $13,000 and we’ve got it on the floor for $9,500 because apparently that’s just what we do.

If you’re a size small gravel racer who’s been waiting for the one — this is it. Come get it before we realize what we’ve done.

Ambassador Spotlight: Emily Boardman 🚴bike.crash.run

“A south county girl at heart, and the daughter of a triathlete, I grew up rollin’ along the south county bike path from a young age — before the switchback even existed!

Cycling became a more integral part of my life in grad school when I started doing triathlons.

When I returned to RI post grad school, with the encouragement of Matt, I started partaking in the Wednesday night crits, then was persuaded to try cross.

Now, I do a little bit of everything from the casual commute to road to RI “gravel” (and even a dabble of mountain biking). My tiny apartment does not appreciate the number of bikes I try to cram in, but it’s all worth it for the community I’ve found through biking.

When you’re not seeing me on a bike, you’ll find me by the water swimming, surfing, or leading kayaking classes (how I bring in the money to support my biking hobby).”
