Self-love isn’t a certain size, it’s a choice you have to make.
When I first set out to lose weight, I had the idea in my head that a smaller me would be a happier, more confident me…
But as I lost weight, I didn’t magically become any happier. In fact, I became so hyper-focused on my body and would constantly pick it apart.
At my lowest weight, 117lbs, I still found myself at war with my body. I struggled to feel like I was enough. I remember looking in the mirror at that weight and thinking my thighs were still too big.
And then it hit me like a ton of bricks. Wtf was I gonna do, keep losing weight until I was 97lbs? Was that the magic number?
No. It wasn’t a number on the scale. There was never going to be a certain weight that made me feel like I was enough, like I was desirable.
It was a shift in my mindset that brought me peace. Instead of focusing on what my body lacked, I focused on what it was capable of.
I found a balance between self-improvement and self-acceptance. I pushed myself because it felt good to accomplish something, while knowing it’s not the basis of my worth.
