“Stretching” to facilitate postural or movement correction will not be effective by itself. It is imperative to eccentrically potentiate relative soft tissue. There are two sides to the coin of optimal movement. 1. Mobility and 2. Motor control. If you are not employing these principles in conjunction, you have a ton of wasted time and energy on your hands. Here I have a client with concentric latissimus dorsi symptoms. Most would steer clear of lat related exercises, and at one point I would never have allowed a client to perform a pull down at this angle. However, when the focus of the exercise is to eccentrically engage or lengthen the effected musculature, we have effectively opened the neurological window for correction.

Carpal Tunnel? Elbow pain? We live in a world of flexion. Gripping, holding, squeezing a golf club, tennis racket, baseball bat, or even just typing on your work computer. All of these activities cause us to really work the ⭐️flexors ⭐️ of our hands, wrists, and forearms. This causes an imbalance and consequently under development of our ⭐️ extensors. ⭐️ There are many ways to develop the extensors. The easiest and most cost efficient will be using rubber bands or hair ties. With resistance around the fingers open and close your fingers and hand in all directions. Progression performed by adding multiple bands to increase resistance. Perform this exercise 2-4 times per day for about 1-2 minutes each hand. Remember, the site of your pain is almost always not the source of the problem. It’s just where the dysfunction is presenting itself. This is the biggest mistake in the healthcare industry and why my practice has been so successful. I referred Gael to a chiro on the First Tier Fitness Team last week for a specific adjustment to assist in my Corrective Exercise protocol. When she didn’t make her appointment I asked her why. She stated she was too nervous to drive across town for her appointment. After hire, it is my responsibility to ensure my clients health and well-being.
