Deborah was in town for just a brief visit, and we feel so grateful that she chose to make Arts & Hot Yoga one of her stops along the way. It was such a blessing to have your energy, your practice, and your beautiful smile in our cOMmUNITY.

Safe travels, Deborah. We’ll be looking forward to welcoming you back in November when season begins—and hopefully sharing many more practices together.

Susan, folded inward. No performing. No striving. No destination. Just breath, body and the willingness to surrender to the moment.

We spend so much of our lives reaching outward — doing, helping, working, giving, accomplishing.

Yoga gives us permission to turn inward.

To soften the muscles.
To quiet the conversation in our head.
To feel the earth underneath us.
To remember that rest is not something we have to earn.

Sometimes the practice is the posture.

And sometimes the practice is simply allowing ourselves to stop.

The little stillness we allow ourselves before the asana is part of the practice too.
That quiet moment before we move again.
Before we ask the body to do anything.
Before we start thinking about alignment, depth or what comes next.

Just stillness.

A few seconds to feel the heartbeat. To notice the breath. To let the nervous system settle and the mind become quiet enough to actually experience what just happened.
We often think yoga is found in the postures.
But sometimes, the most important part of the practice happens in between them.
Don’t rush the stillness.
There is yoga there, too.

Strength isn’t always about pushing harder. Sometimes it’s about having the courage to open.
Bruce in Camel Pose — breathing into the intensity, trusting his body and allowing the posture to unfold exactly where it is today.
One of the things I love most about this practice is that there is no finish line. We don’t practice to make the posture look like someone else’s. We practice to discover what is available within our own body, our own breath, our own moment.

And then we come back and discover something new.

Ieva in Camel Pose — strong, grounded, and completely present.
This posture asks for more than flexibility. It asks us to breathe when things feel intense, to stay when the mind says “come out,” and to find softness inside of strength.
That is so much of what this practice teaches us.
Not how far can you bend.
Not how impressive can it look.
But how present can you remain while you are there?

Just one very tiny visitor who apparently heard…
“Only Love Lives Here.”
No appointment.
No preregistration.
No yoga mat.
LOOK AT THAT LITTLE SNORKEL NOSE.
And before anyone worries — no, I did not take him home. After a quick hello and a few photos, I put him back down in the shrubs near exactly where I found him, away from the exposed doorway. I poured a little spring water into the soil nearby and left him to carry on with whatever very important turtle business brought him there in the first place.
I have no right to choose his destination for him. Just give him a little shade and safety and let him find his own way.

6:45am Practice hot yoga with friends.
8:15am Teach hot yoga to my friends/yoga fam.
Then trading my bare feet for eight wheels and somehow still finding a way to do yoga.
I’m pretty sure this qualifies as a winning day.

—doing what I love, sharing what I love, and remembering that life doesn’t always have to be so serious.
Some days are for getting things done.
Some days are for putting on roller skates and seeing what happens.
