With Tall Ship Lynx 's conclusion to our 2026, America's 250th season ending on Nantucket weeks ago we are reminded of the talent that little Sandspit in the Sea generates.
This week there two significant happenings, Award Winning and best selling Nantucket Author Nathaniel Philbrick's new book, RUSH hits on October 6, about the impact of the Gold Rush, and another delight, I saw posted, a painting of Lynx done by Lynx supporter and sailor Catherine Morris Aguiar for the Artists Association of Nantucket entry in the Wet Paint weekend.
The painting looks great and the trained eye will pick out some significant Americas 250, 2026 year.
First, the Betsy Ross Banner only flown in 2026, Circle of 13 Stars representing the 13 original Colonies.
2nd is the faint blue of the Egan Maritime Institute Banner flown from the foremast, this Banner was new this year and a different profile from years previous.
The book and painting are available with the links posted, and Egan Maritime continues the good work in the schools and some adult programs.
Mean while with Lynx's southern voyage underway we still remember a great summer season.
Nantucket is still cranking.
