Recap of the 2nd to last race of the 2021 season. Unloaded without touching the car from the race 2 weeks prior, life happens. 15 car field for the night, great car count. Threw a couple of changes at the car before the first practice and went out and ran our fastest lap times in this car so far, 14.51, P6 in first practice. 14.55 in second practice, P8. Qualified P9 with a 14.54, everyone picked up speed. You could have thrown a blanket over the 5th-10th qualifying cars, a .150 difference separated all of us. Finished 4th in the heat race out of 8 cars and got completely ran over by an inexperienced driver racing after the checked had flown past the start/finish. Ripped the pan hard bar (keeps the rearend centered in the car) out of the rearend eyelet. Scrambled to try and repair in to make the main event. Got it repaired with moments to spare and hoped we had it close to where it needed to be to make the car drivable. Started outside pole in the main. Got a great jump and lead the first lap or two. Battled hard for the next 15+ laps to stay in the top 6-7 spots. Car really came in about half way and started moving back forward, knocking on the door of the 5th place car when a car in front of us spun and threw a caution. With 9 laps to go, 2 of us, were battling for position got stuck running door to door behind 2 lap cars running door to door. After 5 or so laps of this, with a little gentle assistance to let us go by, 3 of us battled for 5th place the remaining 3 laps. Ended up bringing the car home in 7th place. Completely happy with the result after what we went through. None of this would have been possible without Danny Martin of D29Racing. We have a few fixes to make before the season ending race on the 23rd. Always the biggest thank you to our amazing sponsors, we couldn't do it without you!
