Madrone Stix

Madrone Stix Madrone is unique to the PNW. A beautiful tree that produces hard, fine-grained wood, these Hiking Stix are carefully selected for a lifetime of use.

Madrone wood, extremely beautiful and long-lasting, is also very difficult to work due to splitting. Very few artisans use this wood. Each Stix is selected from the Oregon forest, dried for several weeks, hand-peeled, hand-sanded, and finished with five coats of Tung oil. This brings out the varied colors in the wood as well as providing a durable finish for use in all weather. These Stix are a wo

nderful tool for mushrooming as well as hiking. Each one is unique and different. Madrone is also the firewood of choice, containing 34 BTU/cord, more than any other wood. The berries provide food for many animals and birds. The trees are the preferred choice for nesting of many species. One of the most valuable trees in the forest, it is commonly kept out of industrial timber lands by broadcast spraying with organo-phosphates. Help us save the madrone while enjoying the best Hiking Stix you will ever own. Prices range from $45 to $100. Shipping additional. Contact Lou Szabo: [email protected]
