District 11 is sad to learn of the recent passing of official Mike Bell.

Mike was a great individual who worked hard to become one of the top rated officials in South Carolina. As a result of his dedication to the game, Mike earned his first state semifinal assignment this past March. He was also selected to officiate in the Beach Ball Classic in 2024 and 2025.

Services were held earlier this month in his hometown of Steubenville, Ohio. Our thoughts are with Mike’s family. He will truly be missed.

For our officials needing a new travel bag for next season, the Force 3 Weekender bag is currently on sale through a couple of the various vendors out there. (NOTE: this is the 23-inch MINI version, not the full-size.)

REMINDER: SCBOA camp registration is now open.

All officials should attend SCBOA camp once in the three-year cycle in order to obtain their five camp points towards their rating. This is year two in the current cycle (2025-27).

Camp in Myrtle Beach (sponsored by District 11) will be held at Coastal Carolina June 22 and 23. Cost of camp is $75.
Additional camps are being held in Florence (June 5-6), Charleston (June 6-7), Aiken (June 12-13), Rock Hill (June 13-14), Greenville (June 19-20), and Columbia (June 26-27).
Registration information for all camps is available at: https://www.scboa.net/camp-registration.html

It is important to know that the five points for SCBOA camp are automatically added to an official's rating score, and will only be deducted on the final year of a three-year cycle (and any subsequent years until SCBOA camp is attended) if the official does not attend a SCBOA-approved camp.

For example, if an official attended camp in 2024 (part of the 2022-2024 cycle) they will have maintained their five points for the 2025-2027 cycle and will only have five points deducted in 2027-2028 (and beyond) if they do not attend camp at least once during the 2025-2027 cycle.

Thus, if you are not currently getting credit for camp because you didn't go 2022-24, go now! If you go now, you are receiving camp credit for 2025-27, which essentially means you don't have to attend through 2029. (You'd have to attend in 2030 to maintain your status before the end of the next period.)

Registration opens on 1 May 2026 and will close on 29 May 2026 5 June to 6 June 2026 (Friday-Saturday) Florence Area Location: Francis Marion University Contact: Eric McKnight (Click Here) SCBOA...
