BACK AT ATHLEAN-X LIVE: Most of you know that Toby and I have been following Jeff Cavaliere for several years on his YouTube channel, Athlean-X. And you certainly cant miss his videos that are on display in the gym. If you believe in self education like us, Athlean-X is the best source of information you will find for working out. First and foremost, Jeff is a physical therapist and always approaches his workouts from this perspective. In return, you can rely on the information he provides when it comes to strength training and know that he has your safety in mind. Over the years Toby and I have abandoned certain popular exercises or the way that we perform them after learning from Jeff how detrimental they were to the overall health of our bodies. Jeff is 100% genuine with everything that he does and is one of the most kind and humble human beings you could ever meet. If you are looking to take your workouts to the next level look no further than Athlean-X. Stay Strong Everyone!!! 💪 💪💪

How to LOWER your cholesterol: Many times we hear people in the club talking about lowering their cholesterol. Well, one of the main ways you can help control your body's cholesterol level is through nutrition....specifically the amount of saturated fat intake. Your body produces about 70% of the cholesterol it needs on its own. The rest comes from what we eat which can ONLY come from animal products. When you eat saturated fat, it triggers the body to produce more cholesterol, which is part of the bile that is used to break down the saturated fat. So....when you limit the amount of saturated fat intake in your body, you can limit the additional amount of cholesterol your body has to make in order to break it down. So how much saturated fat should we be eating in 1 day??? The daily recommendation is NO MORE than 10% of your overall fat consumption for the day. It doesn't take a whole lot of saturated fat to meet that recommendation. If you look at this picture of the nutrition facts of 1 slice of aged white cheddar cheese, you can see 1 slice has 4 grams of saturated fat. Lets do some math...based on a 2000 calorie daily intake, if 30% of your food was consumed in the form of fat, that would equal 600 calories from fat. There are 9 calories per gram of fat, therefore you would be allowed 66.6 grams of fat per day, 10% of which OR 6.6 grams should be saturated fat. Therefore if you ate 1 and a half slices of this cheese, you would have met your daily limit of saturated fat! Remember, you ARE what you eat. Pay attention to nutrition labels and see if you can improve your cholesterol levels by making this small adjustment in your daily nutrition. Stay Strong Everyone! 💪💪💪💪💪

Its all about the BACK! Often times we work on the muscles that we can see in the mirror. For guys its the chest and arms and for women its legs/hips. Its way too easy to forget about the back. Remember, the back is part of your core, provides scapular stability and includes the severely neglected rotator cuff muscle group. And guys, let's not forget about that well sought out "V" taper provided by the lats! If you train your back muscles regularly, you have the ability to increase your overall strength in other areas of your body. This comes with stabilizing your body and providing the framework that is crucial for building up other muscle groups. For example, many women struggle with doing push-ups and often times it has less to do with pectoral or arm strength but rather the instability of the shoulder blades. At the end of the day, make sure you got your own back covered with a solid workout routine and by doing so those "other" and more popular muscle groups will prosper from it. Stay Strong! 💪💪💪💪💪

REMEMBER THE PROTEIN: A good training session is just part of the equation to building muscle. We recommend having 0.7 to 1.0 grams of protein per pound of body weight per day. You also want to make sure you intake an adequate amount of that protein within 2 hours of your workout, either before or after. Your body cannot store protein and since protein sources can be expensive, there is no need to over endulge on it. If you are an athlete or have a physically demanding job on top of working out (weight training) at least 5 days per week, then you should be at the higher end of the daily recommendation. Remember though, more protein does not necessarily equal more muscle. There needs to be a healthy balance between training, nutrition and adequate sleep! Fortunately, if you struggle getting the proper amount of protein each day, you can supplement with high quality whey protein. Our personal favorite is Iso 100, which we carry at the club! Most protein supplements provide 20 to 25 grams of protein per serving which can really help with your body's daily nutritional needs. Stay Strong Everyone 💪💪💪💪💪
