This spring painting jigs and building rods hasnt been my only projects, I started turning turkey pot calls and strikers. It’s been fun, challenging and hopefully soon rewarding if I can manage to get my luck to turn and get turkey called in with one of my own calls. Haven’t started marketing them completely yet, but if you have any interest in one send a message!

Each rod I build represents more than craftsmanship—it tells a story.

A few weeks ago, Carl approached me with a meaningful request: to incorporate a small portion of his grandmother’s ashes into a custom trout rod, creating a lasting tribute to her memory. I was honored to accept, and we worked closely together to ensure every detail reflected his vision.

Today, the rod is complete. It not only met his expectations, but stands as a deeply personal and meaningful piece that will be cherished for years to come.

It is a privilege to be entrusted with projects of this significance. Moments like these are a reminder to appreciate every cast and make the most of the time we’re given.

Well with the big order of jigs that went out recently I had to paint myself up some chrome ember jigs for my own box. It didnt take long to prove itself yesterday!

These jigs are painted in 1/16oz voodoo jigs

I can do orders for singles or dozens!

Things are melting here in SW Michigan which only means one thing, spring chrome! Jigs are a great way to target those cold water chromers tipped with wither spawn, waxies or plastics!

In the burbot portion of this episode, the rod Darren is using, the chartreuse wrapped rod with a white handle is one i built. This rod is a 42” heavy action rod that works amazingly for burbot and lake trout!
