BIG BOY WENT DEEP, AND BEDROCK STARTED TALKING!

We brought in the “BIG BOY” excavator and dug down 22+ FEET chasing the gold sitting right on bedrock.

There was only one small problem.

We were well below the water line.

So while BIG BOY kept digging, we kept pumping water and saying, “Keep going, the gold is down there somewhere!”

Then came the test pan.

Let’s say I wouldn’t throw this dirt back in the hole.

DOES SIZE MATTER? 😏

When it comes to GOLD, everybody wants the big chunky nugget that makes you yell loud enough for the whole camp to hear.

But don’t disrespect the fine gold.

Those tiny little specks might look innocent sitting in the bottom of your pan, but they add up fast. Gold is a lot like calories. One cookie doesn’t seem like much, then somehow the whole bag disappears and your pants start asking questions.

Same thing with fine gold. A little here. A little there. Keep recovering it and pretty soon you’re staring at a vial worth bragging about.

Big nuggets get the pictures.

Fine gold fills the vial.

So yes, size matters, but KEEP IT ALL.

Now quit staring at other people’s gold and go find your own.

Grab your pan. Fire up the highbanker. Swing your detector. Work the creek. Move some dirt. Chase every flake, picker and nugget you can find.

Get the gang together. Put a couple dredges in the water. Fire ’em up. Start sucking gravel and see what GOLD has been hiding underneath!

Because “suck it up” has a whole different meaning when there’s GOLD at the end of the hose. 😂

The best part isn’t only what ends up in the cleanup. It’s standing knee deep in the creek with friends, laughing, working together, learning from each other, and sharing the GOLD you recover.

WHEN THE MEN START WHINING, CALL IN SUZZIE! 😂⛏️

There comes a point during every dredging operation when somebody starts saying…

“This hole is getting deep.”
“That nozzle is getting heavy.”
“My arms are smoked.”
“Maybe we should take a break.”

And then Suzzie shows up.

“Move over, boys. I’ve got GOLD to find!” 😂

She grabs the 4 inch nozzle, gets down in the hole and keeps sucking up material like the gold at the bottom owes her money!

This is what makes our LDMA dredging events so much fun. You don’t need years of experience. You don’t even need to have touched a dredge before.

First timer? We’ll teach you.
Experienced dredger? Get in the water.
Professional whiner? Suzzie might take your nozzle away. 😂

Once you feel that 4 inch nozzle pulling material off the bottom and realize every rock you move gets you one step closer to GOLD, you’re hooked.

Once a cheerleader, always a cheerleader. Apparently retirement only means you trade the pom poms for a land dredge and start cheering for GOLD. 😂

And every good cheerleader needs a solid base. This one happens to help move dirt, work the equipment, and keep the hunt for gold going.
