10-35 Divers

10-35 Divers A SCUBA diving company that caters to individuals looking for small class sizes and professional diving instruction. Our passion is the water world we live in.

10-35 Divers was developed out of a passion for diving. This company is based on one simple rule: Safety and fun, over profits. Whether it is fresh water or salt water, we can find something worth exploring in either environment and share that with our students.

10-35 Divers was founded by Mathieu Burden who has been enamored with ocean and SCUBA diving since he can remember. As a child, he wan

ted to dive, but did not have the opportunity until he was in the United States Army. Stationed at Fort Carson Colorado, Mathieu happened into a local dive shop in Colorado Springs. A native Californian, Mathieu took his first dip below the surface in fresh water. It was everything he thought it would be and more. After his time in the Army was up, Mathieu went back to California and started diving there. After a while, he became a Public Safety Diver for a major metropolitan sheriff's department. As a requirement to be supervisor on his department's dive team, Mathieu was required to be certified as a Divemaster. Never really wanting to be a professional diver, he soon discovered he loved working with students and quickly became an instructor. Along the way, Mathieu became certified in many different areas of diving and passed along that experience to his students. It is important for us to keep classes small and have as many assistants as possible. For us, it is about the overall experience and to create new dive partners for us. We feel by making our students as comfortable from their initial journey into diving, we create lifelong divers and achieve this goal. We encourage questions and have develop this page to pass along important safety information to our fellow divers, as well as continuing education diving opportunities.

Any experienced diver has come up with their own dive hacks to deal with gear. We asked several dive pros for their scuba gear tips and tricks.

All divers need to remember their training. Proper weighting and ditching weights is taught in basic open water classes.........

A new diver runs out of air at the safety stop and forgets her training. Learn from this panicked diver.

Simple Drill to help improve buoyancy and trim. Plus its fun.

I post this because I want to show, what not to do. If you are laying line, especially if you are going into a cave, then you should not silt out the area in which you are laying line. In my mentoring class, we approach line laying techniques in a three prong approach. Laying line out of water, laying line in open water, then when I feel you are ready, laying line in an overhead environment.

Maybe this is too late for my divemaster candidates to put in their dive briefings, but I am sure all open water divers can use it.

This is not a political post in any which way or form. This is a practical post. As a diver, I care about the health of the ocean, as well as the animals in it. Plastic products are not needed and 20 years ago, their consumer footprint was a lot less. Plastic cannot be recycled back into their original uses, so to say plastic is recyclable is kinda a lie. Plastic bottles cannot be recycled back into bottles, whereas glass and aluminum containers can be. The only reason for plastic bags, straws and bottles are because they are cheaper to produce.

The Queen has declared war on plastic, banning straws and bottles from the Royal estates.

This is a good lesson because most divers travel and as such, they go into differing environments. From cold salt water to warm salt water to fresh water: you will use different gear. Because of this, your weighting will change. If you choose a reputable diving outfit when traveling to a dive destination, please trust the divemaster/instructor. Also, do your research on diving outfits prior to booking with them. If you have any questions you can shoot us a message.

I created this page because I want to share insights into diving--especially for newer divers. A place were experienced divers and new divers can share ideas and ask questions, with the understanding that there is no dumb question. A place where we can talk about traveling to diving destinations and plan on visiting them together. The world is 70% covered by water, we should be enjoying it together with friends.

I have many friends in this industry, and I will be sharing their businesses as well. If I share another business on this page, it means I know them and their integrity is above reproach. I am not in competition with anyone in this industry and my only goal is to promote scuba diving.

If you are a former student of mine, please write a review, so all can see what I am about.

Thank you for your time,

Matt
