Day 2 of our lineage history.

The martial arts journey of Carlos Gracie started like many. Small stature, loud mouth teenager getting into fights sees Mitsuyo Maeda in a judo demonstration. The early 1900s version of seeing Bloodsport for the first time. He began training under Maeda and at 17 started teaching his 4 younger brothers Oswaldo, Gastao Jr, George and Helio. The details of his personal fight career are unverified because most were unsanctioned fights. He soon turned his focus to managing the fight careers of his brothers and researching nutritional regimens that became known as the Gracie Diet. The Gracies ignored conventional fighting styles and became known for openly challenging anyone, no matter the discipline. The ad for their first school was "If you want your face punched and bruised, your butt kicked and your arms broken, talk to Carlos Gracie.” Interested in primarily street defense and "no rules" fighting Carlos and his brothers modified Maeda's teaching into Gracie Jiu Jitsu which is what most of us know to be Brazilian Jiu Jitsu today.

You all didn't let this heat stop you from building a solid foundation for your Jiu Jitsu. No matter how long you train, what belt you become, or how good you get, you will never be better than good positioning.

Followers, you may have nocited some images and videos disappear and you might notice a shift in future posts. With the recent supreme court ruling regarding AI content of children we have chosen to remove all content showing the faces of children from our page. It would make us sick, as parents, for any of our children's faces to end up on such content and we aren't going to make that decision regarding your children. That's up to you.
So, from now on please just know that we have a youth class and we will be posting pics from that class but we will not show the faces of our children. That's a decision reserved for their parents.

Thanks for you understanding. We love our kids and we want the best for their futures.
