Coach Hinkle here. As our season has come to an end, I wanted to take the time to thank our players, coaches, family, administrators, athletic directors, and fans for everything this season.

Over the past three seasons, we have made great strides. From 4 wins and 8 wins the past two seasons, to 14 wins is something to truly be proud of. Wins are awesome, but I’m much more proud of the work ethic and the attitudes of the kids on our team than I am of anything else. These boys have been an absolute pleasure to coach. I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to spend so much time with these kids.

Although our season ends in disappointment, there is nothing to be disappointed about. We fought hard, gave everything we had every day, and were resilient every step of the way. I have learned more from these boys than I’m sure they’ve learned from me.

Parents, thank you for your support all season. We truly couldn’t do this without you all. These boys are direct reflections of you all, and I’m extremely thankful.

Kelsey and Rob. Thank you for your support this season in making sure that everything the baseball team needed was handled in a quick and professional manner. It was a pleasure working under you both!

Elliot and Andrew. Thank you both for your encouragement and support at all times. Your jobs are extremely tough and you both do an amazing job.

To Andrew and the rest of the maintenance staff at the high school. Thank you for always having our field prepared for each and every game. The job is a pain I know! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to play this sport.

To Matt, Jack, and Eli. The coaching support on this staff is second to none. I’m an so lucky and appreciative of the opportunity to go to battle every day with you guys. I can never express how much fun I’ve had working with you guys every day and how awesome this year has been.

To Tim Davis and the DuQuoin baseball team. Congratulations on the win tonight. You have a phenomenal team and I wish you nothing but the best at the state tournament this weekend!

To my wife Morgan and my daughter Grace. Thank you for allowing me to spend time doing one of the things I love the most. Now it’s time to do what I love the most, being a husband and a dad. For those that don’t know, we are expecting a baby girl in the next couple of weeks and I could not be more excited to add to our family.

The season didn’t end the way we all had hoped, but it was a season to remember. Thank you for your support. We will see you all in the summer!

Regional Championship tomorrow!

Blue Devils face DuQuoin. Winner goes to the state tournament. 7 spots filled, 1 spot remains.

The two teams have faced off twice this season in conference play, splitting the matchups. Murphy won at home 10-6, DuQuoin returned the favor winning 5-1.

Game starts at 4:15pm at Don Stanhouse Field.

SURVIVE AND ADVANCE!

The Blue Devils found a way late, scoring four runs in the 6th, holding on in the 7th to secure victory tonight over Sparta.

Offensively, C**t Edwards led the way with three hits. Jase Moniger and Jase Summers each provided two RBI.

Moniger started on the bump, allowing three runs in 4.2 innings, striking out nine in the process. Vincent Norman came on in relief and earned the win. Ryker Gladson picked up the save.

Regional Championship Monday at DuQuoin.

Blue Devils finish the regular season on a winning note. Our record is 13-6 (8-3).

Offensively, Jase Moniger led the way. He had 3 hits, 5 RBI, and a walk. Ryker Gladson and Vincent Norman each had two hits.

7 players saw action on the mound. Ryker Gladson picked up the win, and Reid Endres picked up the save.

Regional play starts Thursday as the Blue Devils host Sparta.
