A couple Clarkes will be playing with the St Louis Unions at the St Louis Cup this weekend.

ST. LOUIS (KMOX)–Vintage Baseball returns to Forest Park this Saturday. The 10th annual St. Louis Cup will have 13 teams playing on 4 fields starting at 9 AM. The matches will be played using the rules of 1860 baseball.

Knockout, Black Bart and Icy Hot played today with our friends from the Unions at the Sheppard Barclay Festival at Lafayette Park. We lost two close games to the host Cyclone and the Stags, but thoroughly enjoyed getting back out on the field. Mr Knute, Clarkes royalty if ever there were any, also graced us with his presence. Huzzah!

A gentleman of the Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball first, but a Belleville Stag a distant second. We felt like he was one of us and will miss his friendship. RIP Uncle Jesse. You're the best this game -- vintage or otherwise -- had to offer. Thank you for showing us the way.

The "Union-ized" Murphysboro Clarkes Explored across the Mighty Mississippi to play a twin bill at The Barclay Festival at Lafayette Square Park. We played a short bench Belleville Stags team and came out on top 4-2, then followed that up with a 6-1 victory over other friends, The Brown Stockings! The team consisted of 2nd generation players Junior and Young Gun, as well as Chief, Say Hey Fay, Twinkle Toes and rookie Snow White! We also had help from Scoops, Scooter, Squints, Ham-Bone, Dinger and Mayhem for filling out our squad and bench!

Thank you to the Lafayette Square Cyclone V.B.B.T. for hosting and feeding us. Great weather and fun times all around!

The end of the year Good Will Game will be at Lafayette Park at noon on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Assuming enough players want to take part, we will do the standard pick-up format from whomever comes out. Feel free to bring snacks or beverages. An after-game trip to the Square One Brewing Co. could be in the offing as well.
