Information concerning Murphysboro Trap Inc. spring 2026 season:
The spring season is right around the corner. It's hard to imagine in this cold weather, but it will be here sooner than later!
The season will be extended from 6 weeks to 10 weeks. The spring season will start on March 21st and go thru to May 9, 2026 with the Regional competition scheduled for May 16, 2026 Shooting Complex. Mark your calendars!
Accepting new students 6th grade-12th grade.
Public, Private and Home schoolers welcome.

Would your daughter like to participate in an outdoor shooting sport?

Then sign her up for the Murphysboro Trap Team!

Did you know that young women make up 1 out of every 3 participants in youth clay target sports? And that shooting sports allows young women and men to compete on a level playing field? Success can be achieved without being the strongest or fastest competitor. It is not uncommon for young ladies to outperform their male counterparts.

Why clay target sports?

Clay target shooting for ages junior high through high school is the fastest growing youth sport in the country. It is also the safest sport boasting a 100% safety record. Our primary objective is teaching firearm safety. Every participant in the program is taught and held to strict safety standards. Our dedicated staff has decades of recreational and competitive clay target shooting experience. In addition to safety, our students learn responsibility, teamwork, marksmanship and gain confidence in their abilities. Also, unlike other team sports, everyone participates, every time. There are no benchwarmers! In addition, clay target sports can be lifelong endeavors. Participants routinely enjoy participating well up into their 70’s and beyond.

Our facility is located at 2810 Stewart Lane in Murphysboro. Practices are scheduled on Saturday morning and start promptly at 9AM. Competitions and other events may be scheduled and announced as they arise.

All youth between 6th and 12th grades are eligible. Our program is open home school and private school individuals as well.

Murphysboro Trap Inc. Fall Season Information: September 6th through October 18. Please be advised that we will be closed on Saturday, September 13, in celebration of the Murphysboro Apple Festival. Registration on September 6, 2025, will be held from 8am to 9am. Returning shooters will begin shooting at 9am, while new shooters will undergo a safety meeting prior to starting. The fee for the program is $400.00, which includes targets, ammunition, and SCTP fees for all participants.
