☀️ SUMMER CAMP WEEK 2 RECAP ☀️

Another incredible week is in the books!

From our visit to the fire station 🚒 to movie day 🎥 and plenty of time spent making memories with friends at the park 🌳, our campers stayed busy all week long.

The smiles, laughter, friendships, and adventures are what make summer camp so special. Watching these kids step outside their comfort zones, try new things, and simply enjoy being kids is the best part of what we do.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Reminder 🇺🇸

Black Dragon Martial Arts will be CLOSED Monday, May 26th in observance of Memorial Day.

While many of us will enjoy a long weekend with family and friends, Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Their courage, service, and selflessness secured the freedoms we enjoy today. We are grateful for those who gave everything in defense of our nation and for the families who carry that sacrifice every day.

As we pause for the holiday, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember those who never made it home.

Classes will resume on Tuesday.

Behind every confident child on the mat is a mom who’s been there through the ride to class, the belt struggles, the tired nights, the tournaments, the “I don’t think I can do this” moments… and the victories.

Moms are the real ninja logistics coordinators.
Snack packers.
Uniform washers.
Encouragers.
Taxi drivers.
Homework helpers.
And sometimes even the practice dummy at home. 😄

Today we celebrate the strength, patience, love, and dedication of all the amazing moms in our Black Dragon Martial Arts family.

Thank you for raising strong kids with respect, discipline, confidence, and heart. We see you. And we appreciate you more than words can say.

Belt Testing Day at Black Dragon Martial Arts 🐉

These students showed up today and earned every bit of what you see here.

No shortcuts.
No handouts.
Just hard work, focus, and the kind of perseverance most adults struggle to maintain.

Belt testing isn’t about the belt… it’s about who they’re becoming in the process.

Confidence.
Discipline.
Respect.

That’s what we’re building—on and off the mat.

Proud of every one of these kids. This is what consistency looks like. 👊

Today wasn’t about belts.

It was about years.

Years of showing up when it was hard.
Years of pushing through frustration.
Years of learning discipline, respect, and grit when quitting would’ve been easier.

Every student in this photo has been with us for at least 4 years.
Let that sink in for a second.

In a world where most kids bounce from activity to activity…
these kids stayed the course.

They didn’t just train.
They grew.

They’ve been corrected, challenged, encouraged, and pushed.
And today, they stepped on the mat to prove what they’ve become.

Black belt testing isn’t given.
It’s earned… one class, one rep, one decision at a time.

And today, they showed exactly what that looks like.

We are proud. Not because they tested…
but because of the people they’ve become along the way.

This is what commitment looks like.
This is what Black Dragon Martial Arts is built on.

Nineteen years.

Nineteen years of doors opening.
Nineteen years of bowing in.
Nineteen years of building something that lasts.

The camera runs down a line of black belt certificates — one 1st Degree… then 2nd… then 3rd.

And the last one it lands on?

Our 19-year-old son.

Let that sink in.

He grew up on these mats.
Learned how to stand at attention before he learned to drive.
Learned how to get back up before life ever knocked him down for real.

That certificate isn’t just ink on paper.
It’s car rides to class.
Late nights.
Hard conversations.
Tears.
Victories.
Growth.

Anyone can earn a black belt.
Not everyone stays long enough to mature into it.

For 19 years we’ve poured into families.
For 19 years we’ve taught discipline, respect, and grit.
And this month, we get to celebrate not just an anniversary for our school — but the young man who was shaped alongside it.

This isn’t about trophies.
It’s about legacy.

Nineteen years strong.
And we’re still building. 🥋🔥

🔥 Upper Belt Testing – DONE RIGHT 🔥

Today’s upper belt testing was exactly what it should be:
focus, effort, discipline, and zero shortcuts.

These students were pushed, corrected, and challenged — and they rose to it.
They listened. They adjusted. They finished strong.

Upper belts don’t get here by luck.
They earn it through consistency, respect, and showing up ready to work — even when it’s hard.

Proud of every single one of you.

They listened, followed instructions, and completed everything they were asked to do - no shortcuts, no excuses.

That’s how progress is made.
That’s how confidence is built.
That’s how martial artists are forged.
