GRAND ISLAND ICE CAVES, stay away from the east channel, from Sand Point to the East Channel Lighthouse, it was open water 2 days ago! Over the years, the normal time you can visit them up close is late February to early March. This is not last winter, when I make it, it's "almost" safe! I have not attempted it, I have no boat available in that area at this time!
