The Raider and Lady Raider tennis teams advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 5th Region Team Tennis Tournament on Thursday night at the Raider Tennis Courts.
The Raiders opened play against the Caverna Colonels and quickly set the tone. Jake Crump put the first point on the board with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win, followed by Isaac Smith with a similar 6-0, 6-1 victory. Jacob Shoulders clinched the match in commanding fashion with a 6-0, 6-0 win. In doubles action, Cheston Sexton and Jack Baird added another point with a 6-0, 7-6 (1) victory, while the final point came via a forfeit at the #2 doubles position. The Raiders now advance to face the #3 seeded Taylor County Cardinals.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Raiders squared off with the Campbellsville Lady Eagles. Abby Stinson and Josie Srygler got things started with a strong 6-1, 6-4 win in doubles. Linlee Smith followed with a solid 6-2, 7-5 victory in singles. The Lady Raiders secured their final point through a forfeit at the #2 doubles position to clinch the match. They will now move on to face the #4 seeded Taylor County Lady Cardinals.
