Muncie Crime Stoppers

Muncie Crime Stoppers Muncie Crime Stoppers is an organization designed to help solve crimes and make Muncie, Indiana a better community. Muncie Crime Stoppers, Inc.

is a local non-profit organization formed in 1985 for the purpose of solving crimes and criminal acts by alleviating the major problem that causes good citizen witnesses not to get involved in criminal cases. That problem is fear of criminal retribution. Crime Stoppers does this by allowing reporting of criminal activity through complete anonymity. Tipsters are paid for tips that result in crimina

l arrest and are again paid anonymously at local banking institutions. Crime Stopper funding is raised via grants, sign sales, and solicitations. No public tax dollars are used. Crime Stoppers also supports crime prevention initiatives through summer baseball leagues and other youth activities as well as educational goals through a “Back to School Shop With a Cop” program. These community activities are aimed at low income children and families and economically challenged areas of the community. Muncie Crime Stoppers is a total community organization.

The Delaware County Prevention Council held their annual Red Ribbon breakfast (29 years) at Cornerstone Center. Crime Stoppers bought a table for the event and the board of directors (Kathy Brinson, Clares Burke, Chuck Hensley, Cindy Qualls, Jared Foster and coordinator Bruce Qualls) attended. Jennifer Bell was the guest speaker and spoke about substance addiction and how it cost her husband’s life. The presentation was very interesting, informative and heartfelt. The Pride Team ( made up of Delaware County High School students that have pledged to be substance free) performed dance routines, skits and sang for the attendees. The Pride Team will be visiting elementary schools all week to bring their substance free messages through their songs, skits and dance routines. The Prevention Council awards mini grants to various organizations that apply and come under Education, Law Enforcement, and Treatment. Bruce Qualls was awarded a grant to help with “Living Proof Mock Crash Event.” Bruce was also the closing remarks speaker. The event was very entertaining, educational, and informative.
