If you’re losing distance and consistency, you might be doing this without realizing it…

Dipping during the throw.

It robs you of power and makes it almost impossible to throw nose down. Fix this and your distance will jump immediately.

Why I’m Doing Baseball Drills to Improve My Disc Golf Drive (Turn & Burn)

1ļøāƒ£ Hip Explosion = More Distance
The ā€œTurn & Burnā€ drill teaches aggressive hip rotation—just like in baseball. That same explosive lower-body movement translates directly to a more powerful disc golf drive.

2ļøāƒ£ Separation Creates Power
In baseball, your shoulders stay back while your hips fire first. Practicing this separation builds torque, which adds snap and speed to my disc release.

3ļøāƒ£ Better Weight Transfer
The drill forces proper back-to-front weight shift. Clean weight transfer keeps me balanced and helps generate effortless distance instead of muscling the disc.

4ļøāƒ£ Improved Timing & Sequencing
Turn → plant → burn (explode). This sequence builds smoother mechanics so my drive feels fluid instead of rushed.

5ļøāƒ£ Stronger Brace Position
Baseball drills reinforce a solid front-side brace. A stronger brace means better energy transfer and less power leaking during the throw.

6ļøāƒ£ More Consistent Follow-Through
Finishing like a hitter helps me rotate fully and protect my arm—leading to cleaner releases and more consistent lines.

7ļøāƒ£ Athletic Movement Over Arm Speed
Disc golf distance isn’t just about arm strength. The Turn & Burn drill trains full-body athleticism so my drive is powered from the ground up.

If you want more distance off the tee, train like a hitter and let the lower body do the work. šŸ’ŖšŸ„
