🔥 WILDFIRE DANGER — STATE OF EMERGENCY 🔥

Arkansas is now under a State of Emergency due to severe wildfire activity across the state.

⚠️ CRAWFORD COUNTY REMAINS UNDER A BURN BAN. ⚠️

Extremely dry fuels remain capable of supporting fast-moving and serious wildfires, even in areas that have received isolated rainfall.

Residents are strongly urged to avoid all unnecessary outdoor burning and use extreme caution with anything that could create a spark near dry grass, leaves, or vegetation.

Please be especially careful with:

🔥 Outdoor burning
⚙️ Mowers and other equipment
🔥 Welding or cutting
⛓️ Trailer chains dragging on roadways
🚬 Ci******es and smoking materials
🚗 Hot exhaust systems or vehicles parked in dry grass
✨ Anything capable of producing sparks

A small spark is all it takes to start a dangerous wildfire under these conditions.

🚫 Crawford County remains under a burn ban at this time. Please do not burn.

📞 If you see illegal burning, an unattended fire, or any fire that is out of control, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY.

Please help us protect our communities, firefighters, homes, farms, and property. One preventable fire is one too many.

LUNAR ECLIPSE - this is for tonight! 🤩

Arkansas (and many other states) will have the chance to view a deep partial lunar eclipse this evening.

The eclipse will last over 5 hours, but the best viewing is from around 10:30 to midnight.

The maximum is 11:12 PM CT.

The moon will pass through Earth’s shadow, you might notice a red/copper tone while viewing.

Look southeast and enjoy! No special equipment or glasses needed.

I know it’s going to be late, but if you’re willing, let the kiddos see it too.

Space is very cool and they will remember these moments with you.

We need to watch tomorrow afternoon and evening for the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms across Arkansas.

A Marginal Risk for severe weather is in place across the state.

The main severe weather concerns appear to be damaging winds and some hail. Lightning will also be a major hazard with these storms, and some of them could be quite intense with plenty of thunder and heavy rain.

The tornado threat looks very low at this time.

Some model guidance shows a fairly intense round of thunderstorms developing, but remember, this is just model guidance. The exact timing, coverage, and intensity can and likely will change as we get closer.

If you are anywhere in Arkansas tomorrow, make sure you have our app downloaded and have a way to receive warnings. Be prepared to move indoors and shelter if a strong or severe storm approaches your area.

The bright side is that many locations could pick up some beneficial rainfall.

Last night we responded to a motor vehicle accident on Peaceful Way between two vehicles that collided with each other. Please be mindful when you’re on these back roads as they are narrow and full of blind corners, especially with the drier conditions making it dustier and more difficult to see. We also have lots of off-road vehicles that travel out here too which can add even more risk if you’re speeding down the dirt road. So please slow down and take your time, let’s all make it home safe!
