I want to take a minute to thank all of my clients.

Charlie turns 6 tomorrow and I am feeling particularly thankful.

My clients past and present have allowed me to spend all day with Charlie every Thursday Friday and Saturday for the last 4 plus years.

I get to be present and spend 3 full days a week with her because I have amazing clients who not only keep me in business, but work around my slightly odd schedule.

I get to work the days I don't have her and rarely will take a client call on a day when I do have her.

It's just me and her all day, enjoying, adventuring, and bonding. (And sometimes swearing and laughing out asses off 😆)

When I do take a rare client call when she's here.....she inevitably has to 💩 and needs her 🍑 wiped. 😆 🤣

And when that happens my clients laugh and aren't put off by the interruption.

I cannot express how much it means to me that I get to do meaningful work with people I genuinely love, and pay the mortgage and keep Charlie in ninja turtles toys.

The relationship I have built with her is because I have this gift of a business that allows me the freedom to be there for her.

Thank all of you, past and present, from the bottom of my heart.

"I'm scared as f**k.....but I'm also fine."

My biggest fear is being put under anesthesia (aside from something happening to Charlie)
And that's exactly what I'm doing tomorrow.

I'm having my deviated septum fixed with a surgery that requires general anesthesia.

I had a bad experience once with anesthesia and also the last time I went under I was literally half dead (2018.)

As I went for my morning walk Monday, out of nowhere a voice in my head said "you know....ppl die every day from simple surgeries."

I felt a momentary jolt.

That's the moment where years ago my brain would jump to worst case scenarios, worrying, catastrophic thinking, and spiraling into deep rabbit holes.

Ironically enough I just did exactly what I taught in last night's workshop (stop the spiral)

I breathed, acknowledged that we are all scared of something, this just happens to be my thing, and its normal/ok to feel afraid or whatever else I was feeling.

I allowed what was true to be ok, even if I preferred it wasn't.

I breathed some more and reminded myself that the thoughts in my head were just a story my brain was telling me because my body was in a slight state of fight or flight.

"Story follows state" meaning your thoughts are just a reflection of how your body/nervous system feels. (Thanks Lisa!)

And I walked myself quickly through my "5 P process" for dealing with uncomfortable emotions and got myself back to even, and enjoyed the rest of my walk.

This all happened in about 2 minutes because I've practiced and created a way that works to help me take back control.

Mental health IS EMOTIONAL health.

And physical health IS EMOTIONAL health.

The quality of your life is in directly correlated with your quality of emotions.

And if you don't know how to deal with the uncomfortable ones, you will crumble when things get difficult (which they always do.)

More importantly if your don't deal with the emotions that are uncomfortable......

They follow you around forever.

I've learned (and taught my clients) to "catch and release."

It makes you bullet proof (and calmer, happier and more peaceful as well.)

I've tried almost every morning routine there is over the years.

Wanna know what was the most effective?

Drink a big ass bottle of water then stretch and take nice big deep breaths through my nose for 5 minutes.

Simple, effective, and eases my body into the day, brings a bit of structure and predictability, and I can do it while Charlie watches cartoons and eats breakfast.

In a world where ppl wanna tell you the newest ninja hack or complicated solution that works well if you have all the time in the world...

I've found that just sticking to something super simple and basic that you know you can commit to wins out every time.

This is pretty much true for anything in life.

Ex*****on of the simple far outweighs having the "perfect solution" that you can't stick to.

[What I learned this week]

It's not the stressful thing that throws you off most.......It's your resistance to it.

(And by "you" I mean me lol)

Stress is by far the biggest thing impacting our societies health at the moment and I am NO different.

I get stressed, anxious, overwhelmed etc, I've struggled with anxiety my whole life.

But one thing I've done to help that tremendously is to simply ask myself....

"If I KNEW for a 100 percent fact that stress was going to come back from time to time, how would I WANT to handle it?"

See for a long time I tried to eliminate stress from ever touching me (you can guess how that worked out 🤣) and it just caused me more worry and stress.....

BECAUSE when it came back (which it always did) I would resist the F out of it and my "story" was "this shouldn't be happening!"

Well guess what pal.....it already is.

So I now have accepted that stress will always come back here and there, the type of life I want to live cannot be devoid of stress.

I asked myself "when stress comes, if I handled it 100 percent to the best of my abilities.....what would that look like?"

What would I be SAYING, what would I be THINKING, what would I be FEELING, and what would I be DOING?

This took out the uncertainty of how I would react when stress came, and it gave me a little more prediction and influence over who i am being when stress came knocking on my door.

And no, i don't always respond "as best I possibly can," but it gives me something to shoot for.
