Athlete Spotlight: Marlee Dewey
Marlee is a Level 7 on our USAG development team, and her favorite event is the floor exercise. She started in Coach Mike’s pre-team class in 2017 at the age of 6 and later joined our development team, where she began her competitive career as a Level 2 and worked hard to move through the levels. She started last season off with an excellent start at the Ozark Mountain Invitational, placing 1st on Floor, 3rd on Beam & Vault, 2nd in the All Around, and qualifying for the 2025 Arkansas State Championships. Sadly, she suffered an ankle injury on the balance beam during her second competition and had to withdraw from competitions for a bit while it healed. With dedication and resiliency, she came back to represent us at state championships, where she placed 7th on Vault with a 9.025 and gave a strong tumbling performance on floor. Way to go!
Marlee is just as sweet as she is sassy and creative to boot. Her free spirited smile is completely infectious! And speaking of her smile, she wins our award for the best “facial expressions” in the gym. Whether flashing that winning smile or shooting the best stink face, she always has the perfect expression for the moment. When you can’t find her in the gym, you’ll find her on the volleyball court or dance floor. She’s a multi-sport athlete who represents her school on the MHJH Bombers Volleyball Team and Bomber Belles Dance Team. She also plays club volleyball for Arkansas Juniors Storm. Marlee is a focused and determined athlete as well as a gifted honors student, and we’re so proud of her accomplishments!
