07/31/2025

Layton competed in the Sub-Regional Drive Chip and Putt competion today in Idaho Falls.
He took 1st in putting, 2nd in chipping, and 3rd in drive.
Overall, he placed 2nd and is moving on to the Regional event at Pebble Beach next month!

This is the first time he's made it to regionals. If he places first at that competition then he will go to the national event at Augusta next spring and open for the Master's tournament. A big goal he's had for himself since he started golfing.

It's been back to back big tournaments the past couple weeks for Layton.

We received an email Sunday night that Layton placed 2nd in his division for points during the overall IJGA season, earning an automatic spot to the state tournament!!

The last two days he's been playing in the district tournament and placed runner-up overall, hitting 72 the first day and 78 today!

Big achievements this week and now he grinds to get ready for state/jr amateur.

We are back home from worlds and what an experience Layton had. He shot 79, 79, and 80 all three days. No win this time but a great opportunity to say the least. He played with kids from different countries, tackled a new course, and worked on his mental game. He's extremely honored to have worked for and been accepted into the tournament for the opportunity to play.

This was the largest tournament he played in with more than 170 kids in his age group. Each opportunity like this is just another chance for him to grow with the game ❤️

It's the week Layton has been waiting for....Uswing Mojing Junior World Championship!
We are in sunny California all week for this opportunity. Today is his practice round and the tournament will be Tuesday-Thursday.
Wish him luck ❤️

Today Layton had his final round for the State Invitational in Walla Walla. His two day, combined score was 162.
He didn't place like he wanted to, but he finished with his head held high and was rooting on his friend who was playing in at as well.

Forgot to post Laytons final round for the Rocky Mountain tournament. You win some and lose some. This tournament was not Layton's for the win. He struggled both days to find his groove but persevered to finish. We are proud of him for not giving up and learning from his defeat.

We learn so much from losing and become more humble in our defeats. He's young and learning and becoming the strongest player he can be each and every day.

We've been bad about posting lately. Been too busy with our guy and all his golf adventures!

The Idaho Junior Tour started. First tournament was at Purple Sage and Layton took 3rd place.

Last week we traveled to McCall and got rained out by hole 5.

Yesterday he played Riverbend and took 1st!

He's done some larger tournaments with many more boys from around the state playing, to include the Carney Cup and a local qualifier for the USwing tournament he is going to in July

His photo is now on the home page for the Idaho Junior Tour website!

Layton ended yesterday's golf tournament at Centennial with an 81, taking 4th place. Despite some challenges, he didn't give up and played hard.

Starting off our Sunday strong! Layton competed in the Drive Chip and Putt local qualifier this morning. He killed it in driving, taking first place. Overall, he placed 2nd in the competition and is moving on to the sub-regional qualifier in Idaho Falls!
