For anyone looking to incorporate cardio into their Pilates repertoire, here ya go!! I love the jump board and all of its multi-functional attributes. It’s an excellent place to experience a “slide and glide” feeling in the joints and stability (especially in the CORE!) 🔥🔥🔥I’m actually taking our STOTT Pilates Athletic Conditioning workshop on December 4 .Who is with me?!?

Sunday Reflections!! 🌞🌞It’s been a minute since I have posted, and I have been missing interactions with the “Insta-fam.” ☺️☺️. I want to share my amazing (as always!) experience in Atlanta yesterday. Y’all know I’m a glutton for knowledge, and learning more about STOTT Pilates gives me the confidence to continue giving our clients at PMB exactly what they need. Yesterday was no exception! I took the Advanced Barrels course, lead by the brilliant and talented . Wow, y’all, get ready for full extension poses, handstands and “casting spells” like never before!!! 💫💫💫 Our education program is truly like no other. I could not continue to offer our instructors and clients the feedback ( and dare I be presumptuous enough to say wisdom/insight?!) without the faithful support of the network. The course I took yesterday had students originally from Brazil and Japan!! Shout out to you ladies, and !! Making connections like this fills my soul, and reminds me that as instructors we have a tremendous opportunity to serve in a grander scale than just our own “backyard.” I love our company, our instructors, and our focus of bringing and to our clients. Movement breathes life into the body, and gives us opportunities to give back in so many ways! When your body feels good, think how much more you have to offer! I’ve been a part of this Pilates community for 15 years now, and I will never regret the choice I made. I hope you will come see us and let us encourage you to feel your very best!!

Postural analysis—⬇️⬆️➡️⤵️ Another one of the many reasons I love STOTT Pilates! Our instructors are taught to assess a client’s spine, identify potential deviations, and program exercises to help achieve maximum efficiency of movement with ((better)) alignment. I love this version of a side bend for this client, who struggles to decompress her lumbar spine and simple BEND. The assist of the roll down bar gives her a wide, FUN, range to play with. Just to slide and glide feels good, and it builds a great foundation to help her body get comfortable with this type of motion. I’m super proud of how far she’s come!!

RUNNERS! 🏃🏻‍♀️👟 Especially running along the hills (and potholes) of Mountain Brook, can really do a number on your body. Often I see SI joint related injuries, knee and hip dysfunction, pronation of ankles, and much more!! I try to work with our runners at PMB on using their entire body well, not just their quads to power through the miles. This client has 4 children, has run a few marathons and has the will of a tiger! 🐅🐅But we have noted pelvic instability and glute dysfunction, so why not on some side lying leg??? We’re challenging her obliques, trying to relax her shoulders, and my-oh-my that gluteus medius!!!! I have so much fun helping our people grow stronger!!! It’s been almost FOUR YEARS at Pilates Mountain Brook, and every day is about new discoveries!! 💡🤓🔎🔍🥸 If you are trying to improve your athleticism, balance, or simply improve your posture, let us work with you. The Pilates journey is always exciting and full of possibilities!!

Why do you take Pilates❓🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ I get a lot of questions about the benefits of Pilates, and my response is: what are YOUR GOALS? I opened a small studio, collaborated with AWESOME, like-minded instructors, who agree that serving the clients’ goals are the real reason we teach. I am a HUGE fan of massage therapy with greats like , who assist us in myofascial release, to aid in allowing muscles to better slide and glide. Once your muscles are more “free,” we can work with what you want to improve: LIKE POSTURE. Here, we see a client who is dedicated to her myofascial release treatments, but needs the strengthening and stabilization that Pilates exercises will train. We see her posture improve just by changing her direction and the line of pull to access the muscles we want to target for a more vertical, neutral spine. She’s well on her way to supporting her skeletal structure with this work! I’m so proud of her!! Ohhhh, ahhhh!!! We are working towards ✨High Bridge✨ on the reformer, so how do we get there?🤔🤔🤔 “Breaking down” the key concepts for the goal exercise with similar exercises that strengthen targeted muscles, build confidence, and endurance! Here’s to all of you instructors out there who strive to challenge your clients, meet them where they are, and give them something to look forward to! Think of an exercise that you are aiming for, and program your session with tools to help them get there! I’m so proud of these ladies! They are always up for a challenge, and I enjoy them so much!!
