This is why I take progress photos. If I only weighed myself, I would be discouraged right now. If I only looked at the number on the scale, I would think what I am currently doing was a waste of time. I am not trying to lose weight but I am always trying to improve body composition. The past couple of months I have been slowly reverse dieting and trying to get my calorie intake back up to 2200 a month. This is where I was before my hysterectomy last June. After surgery I didn’t gain weight but I lost a bit of muscle mass and my metabolism slowed down to about 1800 for my maintenance calories. Now I am up to 2050 calories to maintain. Still trying to gain a little bit more muscle and lose some fat. Slowly getting there and feeling good. Sometimes the scale isn’t telling the whole story.

Don’t wait until it is too late. Your life when you are 70 years old will be drastically different if you take care of yourself earlier. Stop worrying about how you look at the beach and start worrying about your quality of life when you are retired. If you hope to be independent, playing with your grandchildren, traveling and going on adventures you want to avoid losing muscle and gain strength and mobility. It doesn’t matter what you have if you don’t have the health to enjoy it.
