Hanley Harrmann has played for the MV Sting SC 2011 girls for six years! She is most proud of having developed her defensive skill as she has primarily played center back and center holding midfielder. One of her favorite memories is winning a championship in a shootout that went to six shots before the opponent missed. Those are some amazing matches where the advice from her coach, Corey Harrmann, is very useful. He taught her to control what she can control.

From all of us with MV Sting SC, Hanley, we’re glad you have had the capacity to control many matches! Thank you for your involvement with our club and on your team!

Payton Carlson has played for the MV Sting SC 2011 girls for seven years. As a part of the first all-girls U9 team that formed in 2019, her favorite part about playing with MV Sting SC has been building friendships with all of her teammates through the years and spending time with those friends! Payton has primarily played in the back line and has developed her ability to clear the ball from the back and cross the ball from the outside spaces. Payton has noted that coaching from Corey Harrmann and Steve Martin often includes instruction to the back line to move forward and that it works in stopping the ball. She has been encouraged by their directives to “be aggressive!”

From all of us with MV Sting SC, Payton, thank you for your commitment to your team and our club! Keep up the aggression as you continue to give all your effort to the game you’ve grown to love!

Judah Whitley has played for the MV Sting SC U12 boys for one year.. Having played as both a center holding midfielder and center attacking midfielder, Judah has been a winger on both sides of the front line and a left outside back. His versatility has made him most proud of his capacity for play making. His favorite memory is winning Ohio Champions League in the 2025 fall season, which could be attributed to the reminder from his coach, Mitch Darling, to always eat his Wheaties.

From all of us with MV Sting SC, Judah, we’re glad you are a part of our club! Thank you for your involvement with your team and we hope to see you one day on the front of a Wheaties box!

Madeline Lewis has played for the MV Sting SC 2012 girls for 7 years! She has been a reliable and consistent presence on the team since 2019 when she was a part of the first MV Sting SC all girls U9 team! While she has experienced multiple positions through the years, she has played most recently as a center holding midfielder and a center back. She has learned the importance of passing, a skill she is most proud of having developed. She remembers Coach Travis Keller inviting players to “think like a goldfish” and forget every mistake in order to focus on positive progression. Her favorite memory is staying in a hotel with the team during a tournament where they enjoyed food, swimming, and time together!

From all of us with MV Sting SC, thank you, Madeline, for your seven years committed to our club! Keep enjoying the game and all of the friendships you built through MV Sting SC!

Iris Gotschall has played for the MV Sting SC 2012 girls for 7 years! While she has experienced multiple positions, she settled into the center back position with excellent defensive timing and instinct that she developed through each season. She directs and holds the back line where she also uses her ability to head the ball, one of the skills she is most glad she developed. Her favorite memory is winning a match after several losses and while sharing in excitement with each other, all the girls went out for ice cream to celebrate! She recalls the team focus on forgetting the moments that don’t go well, sharing that coach Travis Keller, in keeping with the wisdom of Theodore Lasso, invited her to “be a goldfish.”

From all of us with MV Sting SC, thank you, Iris, for your seven years committed to our club! You were a part of the first all-girls U9 team and stayed focused on continual development as you progressed through the all-girls U14 team! Keep playing and enjoying the game and the friendships you built through MV Sting SC!

Lucy Maleszewski has played for the MV Sting SC 2012 girls for 7 years! She has played all positions from center forward to goalkeeper and everywhere in between! When not going toward goal or guarding the goal, she has played as a center back, center holding midfielder, and attacking midfielder. She is most proud of her positional utility and learned from Coach Opa to be smart with the ball and when playing forward to turn and shoot. Her favorite memory is scoring once in the upper right corner to win a match.

From all of us with MV Sting SC, thank you, Lucille, for your seven years committed to our club! You were a part of the first all-girls U9 team and stayed focused on continual development as you progressed through the all-girls U14 team! Kellen Patrick has played for the MV Sting SC 2011 boys for 7 years! He has played primarily in the front line as both striker and winger. While finding the back of the net up front, he is mostly proud of his passing capacity that developed through his years of playing. Kellen learned from coach Curtis Patrick, his father, and coach Matt Rouhier, to always scan the field. His field awareness brought many positive results. His greatest memories with MV Sting SC include winning the Kalahari Cup and attending the Columbus Crew camp at Historic Crew stadium with his teammates.

From all of us with MV Sting SC, Kellen, thank you for your seven years committed to our club! From 2019 until now, you’ve devoted yourself to the game and your family, friends, and fans have enjoyed watching you play and grow!

Lily Grassbaugh recently joined the MV Sting SC U15 girls plying as a winger and outside back. Playing in the outside spaces she has developed the capacity to sprint to cover space at any point in the match. Her play helped her team place as Finalist in the Nike Cup, which became one of her favorite club moments. If she ever felt like she wasn’t playing well, she was grateful for the encouragement she received from coach Corey Harrmann, who always shared that she was constantly improving and playing great!

From all of us with MV Sting SC, Lily, we’re very glad you joined the club! Thank you for your contributions to your team and for your continual resilience and positive attitude!

Hunter Miller has played for the MV Sting SC U12 boys for four years. He recalls his club tryout in Energy Fieldhouse when he first earned a roster position on his team as one of his most formative moments! As a striker for his team, Hunter has amplified the accuracy of his shot placement and learned from his coach, Mitch Darling, that there are times to share the ball and other times to keep it and get to goal.

From all of us with MV Sting SC, Hunter, we’re glad you made that tryout! Thank you for your involvement with our club and on your team. Keep enjoying the game and burying those shots!

⚽️ 8th Gr. Player Recognition
Gracie “GG” McDonald has been playing for the Mt. Vernon Sting Soccer Club for 9 years. She was a member of the first all girls team in 2019. The soccer skill she is most proud of is getting hat tricks in many games and that she loves to score for her team as their Striker. Her favorite memory is the neon practice with Coach Corey Harrmann. The best advice GG has been given was by Coach Corey, “ Don’t stop shooting!”
Good luck goes out to Gracie as she continues her scoring career under the Friday night lights as a kicker for the East Knox Bulldogs.
