I will try this once again and ask....Hello class of 1973. I would like to transfer the bank account for our class reunions to someone in Mount Vernon. Other than making sure that the account is not hacked, there is really nothing to do but maintain the account. It is silly for me to have it here in South Carolina and since I will no longer plan and run the class reunions, someone else should take this over. Who would like to volunteer?

Can you tell I am trying to finish up with everything? It's been two weeks since the reunion and I am trying to get everything put away. I still have about 15 of the bottle openers that were extra. If anyone wants one, or if you know of someone that would like to have one that didn't come to the reunion, I will mail them one.

If someone would like to take over the bank account, I will close it and send you a certified check. That way the account can be opened in Mount Vernon and can be handled from there.

I thought about this since the reunion, that I only got to enjoy One night of!!
This is 2 reunions in a row that Friday night festivities have changed locations! Five years ago it was to be @ Steve N brothers. Spent hour 👀 g for it before driving by Flapper’s on my way home only to find out that’s where the gathering was! This time it was to be @ Flapper’s & Lynn King were the only ones there!! Only to find out later…. Party was @ Dave Hahn place. While we were taking photo Sat I moved in close to Yale & Steve to give them S**t bout not reaching out to me bout beverage cart, which they said they told you they don’t do that anymore.
All the enjoyment, laughter, fun I was looking forward to was Stolen/Taken away from me because you choose not to reach out to me! In five years there were a lot more photos on the gone table, than before! You took away the chance for me to experience all of that! Some of the folks that go Fri night & not Sat night are the ones I haven’t see in 50 yrs!! Fat Boy B… I might not be alive next time or they might not be alive next reunion!

Not only did this happen tonight, but I found out that there were a couple of people that got angry at the caterer for running out of vegetables at the reunion. Seriously? Because there were more people than had made their reservations the last week and I had already given count to the caterer, we ran low on vegetables. Only vegetables.

I love you all... and I am so happy that those that enjoyed themselves and those that appreciated every thing that I did, acknowledged it. But, someone else can take over from here. My feelings have been officially hurt!

Obituary

Steven R. Bross, age 68, of Utica, Ohio, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 19, 1955, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the son of Curtis and Katherine (Shellenbarger) Bross. Steven was a 1973 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and previously worked as an inspector for Intertek of Texas.

Steven was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge of Mount Vernon. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, discussing politics and cheering on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. Most important to Steven was the love he had for his family and especially the time he spent at his grandchildren’s activities.

He is survived by his wife Sharon (Johnson) Bross whom he married on June 19, 1976; his children, Steven (Tiffany) Bross II of Delaware and Carrie (Ryan) Richards of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Kianna Bross, Dylan Dowell, Mason Richards, Toby Bross and a sister, Diane Doup of Mount Vernon.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Larry Doup.

The family will host a private Celebration of Life service. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Steven R. Bross.

Memorial contributions in Steven’s name may be made to the Jacket Boosters (Football or Track), 300 Yellow Jacket Drive, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050.

Mount Vernon High School, Ohio, 1973 Class 50th Reunion.....we did it!!!
The Reunion, I feel, was a success. Our Bonfire, on Friday night, hosted by David Hahn and his family was a lot of fun. Great food and amazing bonfire. It allowed a few that couldn't make it to the Saturday party to come out and see old friends.

Golf was a lot of fun, not too hot, with four teams of four.

The tour of the High School was extremely information and I, for one, was impressed. Lots of things with all the new technology to benefit the students and only one of four schools in the state with some of the new additions. Even a medical facility that benefits not only the high school, but all surrounding schools in the County.

The reunion was great. Thanks to Jan and Nadine for signing everyone in. Lisa had a great Silent Auction, (Doug, I am still mad at you for getting the syrup and pancake mix), put over $300 into the Reunion account.

Currently, we have $1030 in the Reunion account. That is $800 more than we started with for this reunion.

Many people talked about doing more of a all afternoon/evening picnic for the next one. The cost will be less and more people can even attend with families.

Watch for the pictures you ordered from John Seavolt to come in the next few weeks.

If anyone that did not attend would like one of the can/bottle openers, let me know. I have about 20 left.

When I ask about Service members, none of the Nurses stood up. I would love to send you all one of the key chains thanking you for your service.

See you all in 5-10 years.....or at least I hope to see you all!

By the weekend I will have information posted and updates on everything from our great 50th reunion weekend. Trying to get some rest and to get back to work. If anyone has pictures that they can send me so I can post them all together, that would be great. Hopefully someone got a picture of the cupcakes and cake.

50th class reunion Friday night bonfire

Just days to go for our Reunion. I am very excited to see everyone!!

I am getting word from a few people that are coming, that have not RSVP'd or paid. This is an expensive event and everyone needs to have let me know and paid the $50 per person. I have only order food and space for those that have RSVP'd.

A couple of things for the Bonfire:
Don't forget your chair for the bonfire!
If anyone would like to be the grill master, please let me know, so I can let our host, David Hahn, know. (I am not sure if he can cook.
This is BYOB!!
If you would like to bring a covered dish, please do so!
6 p.m.

Golfers....7 a.m. at Chapel Hill on Saturday!

High School tour is at 12:30 - meet in front of the school (near where you used to enter for the theatre and the gym.

Reunion party is at 6 p.m. Cocktails, John Seavolt taking our class picture around 7 p.m. Dinner and socializing after that.
