50 people. One long, [fun] grueling workout. Nobody doing it alone.

Your environment matters.

When you have people in your corner—to push you, support you and hold you accountable—you work harder, stay more consistent and keep a better perspective when things get tough. And things certainly got tough today.

That’s what this gym is built around.

The workout may be individual, but progress is a team effort.

We don’t take ourselves too seriously.

But we take the work seriously.

Laugh together. Push each other. Get stronger.

Play but be willing to work.

Both can be true.

It’s July. It’s hot. Vacations. Sports. Cookouts. Graduations. All the reasons why you couldn’t do it.

Yet these folks got it done.

Consistency is a word used a lot in the health and fitness space. It’s a word we don’t use lightly here at 1808.

We actually measure it.
We praise it.
We reward it.

It’s actually how results happen over time.

Congrats Jess Dunmire Jessica Dunmire on winning the July Consistency Club!

This is Hal. He’s 58 years old—and this is a 365lb deadlift.

But the weight on the bar is only part of the story.

Hal started at 1808 17 months ago after knee surgery. Since then, he’s also worked through major shoulder surgery.

He could have stopped. Instead, he kept his membership active, rode the bike while he recovered and continued doing what he could.

Today, Hal is:

Down 27lbs
Down from 28.5% to 18.5% body fat
Stronger than he’s ever been
Coming off a 127-mile Pelotonia weekend

Nutrition coaching helped. Personal training gave him a foundation. But none of it works without the most important piece:

He kept showing up—even when showing up looked different.

Your setbacks don’t have to become stopping points. Start where you are. Work with what you have. Keep moving forward.

We have the road map to help you be the strongest version of yourself. Hal is proof.

Schedule a time to talk about that road map!

Life doesn’t get less busy. And being busy isn’t the problem.

Believing your plan can’t change is.

The people who stay consistent aren’t living obstacle-free lives. They’re willing to adjust, compromise and keep moving—without putting themselves last.

Adapt the plan. Keep the commitment.

That’s what we preach here at 1808. You’d know that, if you started here. We can also fix that too :)

There have been 226 days in 2026. Heidi has 208 check-ins at the gym so far.

Today she hit a personal record on her Strict Press and Deadlift.

There’s something about lifting weights, getting strong and leaving the gym feeling like a bad ass!

She could have slept in today. But she would have missed out on this milestone. Think about that the next time you hit the snooze button or say you don’t feel like it. Opportunities await you on the other side of discomfort.

Great work Heidi!

“Aren’t you afraid of getting hurt?”

Jess hears that question when she tells people she’s been doing CrossFit and nutrition coaching for the last year.

It’s a fair question—but it assumes avoiding exercise is the safer choice.

Jess puts it perfectly:

“I was hurting myself by doing nothing.”

Training isn’t risk-free. Neither is slowly losing strength, mobility, balance and confidence because you’re afraid to begin.

The goal isn’t to walk into the gym and destroy yourself.

It’s to start where you are.
Move at an appropriate pace.
Learn from good coaches.
Build your capacity over time.

Doing hard things involves risk.

So does avoiding them.

Choose the risk that has the potential to make you stronger.

Jess has made tremendous progress. But it’s more than just the weight and body fat lost.

It’s muscle and strength gained.
It’s confidence restored.
It’s more time playing with her daughters and less being a spectator because she can’t.

It’s life in her 40s with a new outlook. It hasn’t been easy but for sure worth it!

Great job Jess!

Three teams entered. Three teams were guaranteed a spot on the podium.

But nobody showed up hoping for third.

Mike and Nick came in with one goal: compete as hard as they could and give their best effort.

After the first event, they knew it was possible. Four events later, they found themselves standing on top of the podium.

The first place finish is cool.

But that’s not really what this weekend was about.

It was another reminder that life doesn’t have to get smaller as you get older. You can still train hard. Still compete. Still challenge yourself. Still surprise yourself.

Most importantly…

KEEP PLAYING.

Sign up for the race.
Enter the competition.
Take the trip.
Learn the new skill.
Say yes to the thing that makes you a little nervous.

Stop sitting on the sidelines saying “I used to be able to do that when I was younger.”

Age doesn’t matter. Staying active applies to all.

Life is better when you participate.

12 years.

12 years of serving Knox County the way we know best: through health, fitness, connection, and community.

Twelve years ago today, we unlocked the doors for the very first time. We were nervous. Excited. Proud. Ambitious. We had no idea exactly what the future would hold, but we knew the kind of impact we wanted to make.

To every member—past and present—our coaches, staff, friends, family, and everyone who has supported us along the way: thank you. This community exists because of you.

Our mission has always been bigger than workouts. It’s been about helping people become stronger, healthier, more resilient, and more connected. We’ve had the privilege of doing that through coaching, relationships, and giving back to causes that matter in our community.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built over the last 12 years—but we’re even more excited about what’s still ahead.

Here’s to the next decade+ of building stronger people and an even stronger community.
