This Fitness Court was developed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, City of Mt. Vernon and NFC to expand free access to high quality workouts and create equitable access to exercise for communities around the state. The Fitness Court is the world’s best outdoor gym that lets people use their own body weight to get a complete workout using seven exercise stations. Created with people aged 1

4 and over - and with all abilities - in mind, the workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace. Users also may download the free Fitness Court App which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and enhances the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience.

You Are Invited! – February 29th Open House for the Mt. Vernon Bicycle Master Plan

Come review the draft bicycle master plan and share your thoughts on priority projects!

When: Thursday, February 29th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm
Location: Mt. Vernon City Hall, 1100 Main Street, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864

Based on feedback from the open house, the planning team will finalize the bicycle master plan and select a first-phase project for a grant application. The meeting will be an open house-style format with no formal presentation. Please feel free to drop by anytime between 5:00 and 7:00 pm.

Mt. Vernon is participating in developing a bicycle master plan that the Greater Egypt Regional Planning and Development Commission is facilitating on behalf of the City of Mt. Vernon and the City of Benton. The purpose of the bicycle master plan will be to guide future bicycle improvements in Mt. Vernon. The plan is expected to be completed by late spring 2024.
