As we look back on May, one word comes to mind: gratitude.

Throughout the month, we saw our community come together in incredible ways. From pantry donations and Bright Bites support to volunteers giving their time, families participating in programs, generous community partners stepping up, and a successful Community Rummage Sale supporting the Outdoor Recreation Project, the impact was felt far beyond the walls of the Community Center.

The numbers and highlights shared here tell part of the story, but they don't tell all of it. There were countless acts of kindness, hours of service, donations, conversations, partnerships, and moments of connection that happened behind the scenes each and every day.

To everyone who volunteered, donated, attended an event, participated in a program, shared a post, packed a bag, dropped off supplies, or simply supported our mission in any way, thank you. You are the reason this impact is possible.

We are honored to serve this community and grateful to be a place where our community comes together

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been reminded time and time again that none of what we do would be possible without the support of the people around us❤️

As the school year came to a close, volunteers, donors, and community members helped us pack and distribute the final Bright Bites bags for students across our area. At the same time, we kicked off our Summer Youth Program and welcomed children through our doors for a summer of learning, fun, and connection.

Along the way, we’ve received generous donations to support both our Food Pantry and Summer Youth Program, helping ensure that these resources remain available to the families who depend on them.

Every donation, every volunteer hour, every act of kindness, and every person who chooses to support our mission helps make a difference. Thank you for helping us continue to be a place where our community comes together.

A new month is here, and the Mt. Sterling Community Center is full of opportunities to connect, learn, grow, and get involved.

This month, you'll find many of the programs and services that help make our center such an important part of the community, including our Food Pantry, TOPS, Alcoholics Anonymous, Sewing Programs, WIC services, Creative Little Explorers, and Monthly Recycling.

We're especially excited to kick off our Summer Youth Program, giving local kids a place to learn, play, build friendships, and create memories all summer long. ☀️

No matter your age or stage of life, there's something happening here for you. We hope you'll join us this month and be part of where our community comes together.

What are you most looking forward to this month?

Missed the Community Rummage Sale? You're in luck!

We still have a variety of items looking for a new home, and they're available through Monday, June 1st. Take a look through the photos, and if you see something you'd like, stop by and make an offer or simply make a small donation toward the Outdoor Recreation Project.

Every dollar helps move this exciting project forward while giving these donated items a second life. It's a win-win for everyone involved.

The K of P Fish Fry is happening today and tomorrow from 11am–7pm at Veteran's Field. It's a great opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal while supporting a longtime community tradition.

Gather your family, invite a friend, and stop by for some great food and great company.

Will we see you there?

Last week we were busy here at the Community Center, and we have SO much to be thankful for!

As we wrap up the school year, we want to express our gratitude to Girl Scout Troop 8930 and the Mt. Sterling Church of the Nazarene Youth Group for helping pack Bright Bites bags for the end of the year. We'd also like to thank Mary A. and Charlie for helping to load Bright Bites totes, as well as Jen Hagmeier for delivering them to London Elementary and Preschool. We'd also like to thank the USPS Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, Pat Anthony, and Eastern Star for their donation to our Food Pantry.

We are so grateful for all who continue to support our mission and our community❤️

A new week is ahead at the Mt. Sterling Community Center!

As a reminder, we are closed today in observance of Memorial Day as we take time to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 🇺🇸

The rest of the week will include many of the programs and gatherings that help keep our community connected, supported, and engaged. Whether you’re stopping by for one of our regular groups, visiting the pantry, or simply spending time at the center, we’re looking forward to another great week together.

We hope everyone has a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

There are never enough words to express our gratitude for the donations that we receive from members of our community.

This week, we are grateful to have received donations to benefit the food pantry from Janet & Donna R., The Friends of Deer Creek, Eastern Star, and an anonymous donor.

The work we do would not be possible without your continued support. Join us in thanking these donors in the comments!

Some places you go, other places you just belong in❤️

That's what we hope the Mt. Sterling Community Center feels like for every person who walks through our doors. A place to gather, connect, learn, support one another, and simply be part of the community.

From programs and events to conversations in the hallway and people lending a helping hand, it's the people who make this place so special. We're grateful to be a space where our community comes together year after year.

A summer full of fun, connection, creativity, and community is coming to the Mt. Sterling Community Center! ☀️

We’re excited to officially open registration for our Summer Youth Program, taking place June 1st through August 3rd on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10am–1pm.

Throughout the summer, kids will enjoy indoor and outdoor activities, creative projects, games, special guests, field trips, hands-on learning experiences, and more, all in a safe and welcoming environment designed to help them learn, grow, and build meaningful connections. Lunch and snacks will also be provided daily.

A $20 donation per child is requested for the entire summer program to help keep it accessible for families in our community. If your family has concerns about the donation, please reach out to us. We never want finances to prevent a child from participating.

We’re also inviting community members to sponsor a child for the summer and help make this program possible for even more local families.

Registration, sponsorship opportunities, donation links, and additional information can all be found at https://mountsterlingcc.org/summeryouthprogram/
Help us spread the word by sharing this with families who would love to be part of an unforgettable summer at the Community Center.
