As a biological scientist, it's long been obvious to me that the most informative and elegant experiments are the simplest ones. As an angler it's obvious that fly rods are at their essence tools we use to achieve recreation, and while I do enjoy the aesthetics of the finest rods, I also find great satisfaction in maintaining the beauty of a rod blank while adding components that make it a fishabl

e fly rod. I say this more out of an abundance of deference to the master rod builders of our time who exist on another plane entirely. Build requests will be scheduled on a first-come-first-served basis. Turnaround times vary substantially depending on the level of custom craftsmanship, as do prices.

Having some added free time lately means rods coming off the bench! Here’s a 6’6” 1wt 3pc finished in red/black Jasper with snake brand lite wires. Built on a James Green salvelinus blank we developed years ago, this is an extremely light, crisp little glass rod that excels in rhododendron tunnels and smaller streams, and is equally at home on panfish ponds. Contact if interested…this one needs a home and is ready to fish!
