Happy Staff Spotlight!

This month we are featuring Ms. Beth! Ms. Beth starts her mornings teaching at Brighton and spends her afternoons coaching lacrosse, creating positive and empowering experiences both in and out of the water. As a proud grandmother, it is especially meaningful for her to now watch her 7-month-old grandson begin his own swim journey at Brighton.

When she is not at Brighton or on the lacrosse field, Beth can often be found enjoying a touch of Disney magic. ✨ We are deeply grateful for the energy, compassion, and positivity she brings to the Brighton family!

At Brighton, safe water entry is a skill we practice every single lesson. Before entering the pool, each swimmer waits for an invitation from their instructor. Using our wristband-on-the-cone system, swimmers learn patience, awareness, and the importance of waiting for an adult before getting into the water. Small habits like these help build safer swimmers both in and out of the pool.

April’s Skill of the Month is all about breathing!

This month our focus is on age-appropriate breathing skills, from getting comfortable with submersions to mastering side breathing. Proper exhalation and inhalation is a key fundamental of learning to swim. We teach all babies to pop up breathe and roll over breathe. Breathing correctly with a side breath allows swimmers to swim long distances without fatiguing.

We are often asked, what is the difference between Brighton Baby 1 and Brighton Baby 2?

In Brighton Baby 1, it’s all about establishing comfort in the water through hands-on support—parents are in the water every step of the way helping little ones feel safe and confident.

In Brighton Baby 2, swimmers start taking the lead! We focus on building independence with kicking, floating and wall skills. Water safety is a major component always. Parents are still present but are less hands on in this class.
