Evan Wilson’s Clutch Hitting Propels Dayton Crushers 14U To Victory Over Midland Taylor 14U

Evan Wilson drove in four runs on three hits to lead Dayton Crushers 14U past Midland Taylor 14U 15-9 on Thursday at 2383 Highway 41. Wilson doubled in the third inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the fourth inning, scoring two.
Dayton Crushers 14U came back to win despite trailing 5-0 in the first.
Midland Taylor 14U got on the board in the top of the first inning after Joey Little doubled, scoring one run, Greyson Homoelle tripled, scoring one run, Wilson induced Noah Kantor to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored, and Quinn Gailar grounded out, scoring one run.
Dayton Crushers 14U made the score 7-5 in the bottom of the second after Weston Schmidt drew a walk, scoring one run, and Carter Owen tripled, scoring three runs.
Midland Taylor 14U tied the game in the top of the third thanks to a triple by Homoelle, and a sacrifice fly by Cole Greulich.
Dayton Crushers 14U flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring six runs on three hits to take the lead, 13-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Wilson that drove in two.
Wilson led things off on the mound for Dayton Crushers 14U. The starter gave up eight hits and nine runs (seven earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking six. Jake Leedy stepped on the bump first for Midland Taylor 14U. The right-handed pitcher gave up three hits and five runs over one inning, striking out one and walking one.
Kenton Kenworthy collected two hits for Dayton Crushers 14U in four at bats. Dayton Crushers 14U had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Schmidt and Titus Geaslen led the team with two walks each. Kenworthy, Schmidt, and Owen each stole multiple bases for Dayton Crushers 14U. Dayton Crushers 14U ran wild on the base paths, collecting eight stolen bases for the game.
Homoelle and Chase Taylor each drove in two runs for Midland Taylor 14U. John Hillenbrand paced Midland Taylor 14U with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game.
