We celebrated our wrestling banquet this evening. Thank you to the Staab family for graciously hosting! The water slide was a hit. Coach Kemmy and Coach Chris awarded the wrestlers for their accomplishments both on and off the mat. This team has a special bond that will be remembered for years to come.

‼️ 2X ALL-AMERICAN ‼️

Former Cane Russell Fickett placed 7th at the NCWA National Wrestling Championship in Bossier City, Louisiana! This is Russell’s second time earning All-American honors while competing for the University of Central Florida. Congrats!

STATE PLACER! Colton Fickett 6️⃣

The FHSAA State Championship was held at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee. It was a very tough and grueling three days of wrestling.

Congrats to Senior Colton Fickett (190) for placing sixth in the state! Colton earned his way to the semi-finals match, where he unfortunately got injured and had to medically forfeit out of the rest of the tournament.

Sophomore Damian Quinonez (120) is the first sophomore for Mount Dora to make it to day two. These boys left everything out on the mat this weekend.

STATE BOUND!

Colton Fickett (190) 🥉 and Damian Quinonez (120) 4th—punched their ticket to the State Tournament next week! It was a great showing from our Mount Dora wrestlers. The Canes placed 10th out of 33 teams in the 1A Region 2 championship. Sam Mohammadi (165) and Kaleb Olson (215) came up just short in their blood round matches. Dallin Filetti (126) also had a great tournament and made it to day two.

Wow! Mount Dora is your 1A District 6 Runner-Up. The Canes took home the second place trophy at the District Tournament held at Hernando High School. It was a night full of exciting matches. Congrats to our school record 12 regional qualifiers!

The Canes hosted the 2026 Tri-County JV Championship tonight. Mount Dora finished 2nd out of 12 teams. Coach Dave Kemmy ran a smooth and efficient tournament on 3 mats. A big thanks to Morgan Baugh ‘25 for helping run the computer.

Mount Dora hosted Port Orange Atlantic for senior night. All three of our seniors, Aidan Bush, Colton Fickett , and Kollen Staab got their hand raised and the Canes won the dual.
