The Abu Garcia Trade-In and Trade-Up Program was a huge success once again! Anglers were able to trade in an old reel and get a new Abu Garcia Revo SX VoltiQ Low Profile Reel.

The old reels that are donated will go to the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for usage in various programs.

With the competition in college fishing continuing to 📈, will call the 2025-26 season a win with Wabash Valley College finishing up 6th in the Association of Collegiate Anglers School of the Year Race.

In addition to that accomplishment, we had thirteen graduate with a degree to head to work or transfer, 17 teams qualified for the various National Championships, we had several top tens, zero student loan debt, and over the past three seasons, adding up the number of tournaments each angler competed in, 551 tournaments with over 2200 days of learning and competition on the water. Those statistics are pretty mind blowing and makes a pretty strong argument for why these kids are becoming some of the best at such a young age.

We will greatly miss those anglers moving on from but are pretty excited about the recruiting class we have coming in to fill their shoes. Forever a Warrior!

Continuing on with recognition from our awards night on Thursday, May 14… Eli Jaime and Owen Nepple received the “Biggest One-Day Bag of the Year” award. Caught on day two of the Strike King Bassmaster College Series on Sam Rayburn, the bag weighed 26 lbs 5 oz bringing their two-day total to 42 lbs 13 oz. They finished 6th in that event out of 250 boats and ended up quadruple qualifying for the Bassmaster National Championship on the season which is an amazing accomplishment. Congrats and

Check out our WVC Bass Warrior Big Bass of the Year Award Winner for the 2025-26 season. Second stop on the Strike King Bassmaster College Series on Sam Rayburn, Will Cali wrangled up this 9 lbs. 3 oz. bass on a glide bait. Our biggest bass brought to the scales on a tournament day for this season. Cali will forever go down in the lores of fishing at WVC as the “Glide-Daddy.” Congratulations

The sun has set on another season. The Wabash Valley College Bass Warriors had a great showing at the 2026 Bass Pro Shops Association of Collegiate Bass Championship on Pickwick Lake. This wraps up our 2025-26 season with

Leading the way for the Warriors with a 12th place finish was the duo of Hunter Russell and Brogan Gregg. They had a two-day total of 40.64 lbs anchored by a 7.34 lbs largemouth on day two. Grayson Wilson and Jaxon Funneman had another limit on day two catching their fifth keeper on their final cast. Their two-day total was 37.09 lbs good for 22nd place. Caden Pearson and Ty Leak caught 16.73 lbs on day two on trolling motor only bringing their two-day total to 28.23 lbs good for 73rd place. Braci and Brody Ault had a better day two weighing in 15.28 lbs. Their two-day total was 22.35 lbs good for 108th place. Lane Argo and Kyson Bradley had some battery issues and failed to weigh in a keeper on the final day. They finished in 165th place with 11.43 lbs.
