Please help us welcome ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ก to the Berry College Class of โ30!
A libero/DS from Gainesville, GA, Mataya brings relentless effort, energy, and heart to the court every time she competes. She plays with fearlessness and grit, willing to lay out for any ball while bringing a contagious passion for the game to the people around her. Mataya has built an impressive career at East Forsyth High School, earning honors such as Player of the Year, multiple All-State selections, and four First Team All-County recognitions. She will wear #1 for the Vikings this fall.
Mataya has competed with both A5 and 575 Volleyball Club on the indoor side, while competing with S3 on the beach side, while also investing deeply into her school and community through leadership roles, service opportunities, and student organizations. Whether serving as Student Council Executive Vice President, helping with foster care and animal shelter events, or mentoring younger athletes, Mataya consistently looks for ways to lead and serve others well.
One of the things that stands out most about Mataya is the gratitude and intentionality she carries into everything she does. She approaches life with excitement, curiosity, and a genuine appreciation for the people and opportunities around her. Drawn to Berry because it immediately felt like home, Mataya is excited to continue growing in her faith, relationships, academics, and athletics during her time here. She plans to pursue majors in Business and Engineering with a minor in Psychology.
We are beyond excited to welcome Mataya to Berry and cannot wait to see the energy, leadership, and joy she will bring to our program over the next four years. Welcome to Berry, Mataya!
