The Border Regulators has lost another long time great friend and shooter Dave Rose. Looking through pictures of our shoots, Dave has been shooting with the Border Regulators since the early 2000's. Dave was quiet but shared a wealth of information on shooting and was an excellent shot and shared a smile with everyone. Dave will be missed by all of the Border Regulators!

We finally have a nice weekend predicted for our 1st. shoot of the year! For the past3 months either rain or intense heat has canceled our shoots and even postponed and rescheduled shoots have not worked.
as usual registration begins at 8:00, Safety meeting at 9:45, and the Shoot begins at 10:00. We will have the trade/sale table up, Betty has a good meal planned, and the weather is going to be fine.

I hate to cancel again but southern Iowa is full of rain and has started sprinkling again! Last night the weather said no rain today but again they are wrong! Just heard thunder so we will try again next Sunday!

Border Regulators Shoot August 16 is this Sunday. Registration begins at 8:00. Safety meeting at 9:45, and Shooting begins at 10:00. I just watched the forecast for Sunday and now they are talking rain, so watch for notice of cancellation emails and Facebook. We have not had any luck this year with the weather! We definitely need to hold some shoots because of insurance and other expenses this year. We will have the sell/trade table set up so bring anything you have you no longer need or fit.

I hate to do this again but with the projected Sunday Temp of 96 and heat index at 105 I am cancelling Sundays shoot. Betty and I were mowing the range this morning and I was thinking how nice the past 3 days have been and why we cannot catch a break and have weather like this for our shoots! We hope to see everyone at the August 16th shoot!

I have some sad news to pass along, Tom Snow a long time Border Regulator and NCOWS member has passed away on May 31, 2026. Tom was a great friend, an excellent shooter with many trophies to prove it, always attended the NCOWS Conventions when in Iowa, and has spent many, many hours in my shop talking guns, loads, cowboy shooting, trading guns, his military service and precision shooting and sipping some of my whiskey! He has had some serious health problems the past few years and has not been able to attend our shoots but always talked about how we could get him back shooting again!
Tom Snow will be missed!

Border Regulators July 19th Shoot has been cancelled because of the intense heat and humidity predicted for Sunday. We will try to have the shoot the following Sunday, July 26th. Follow Border Regulators Facebook post next week. Cowboy Action Shooting is suppose to be fun and it is not fun when sweat is running out of every part of your body! We can dream of cooler weather so we can dress warmer like Steve is doing in the attached photo!
We definitely miss talking to and shooting with everyone, hopefully next weekend will be cooler!

The Border Regulators shoot this Sunday has been cancelled due to the anticipated extreme heat Sunday. June has been pretty nice, no extreme heat, so we are not used to the extreme coming Sunday. If the month had been hot and humid and we would be acclimated to the heat and humidity we might have had the shoot so stay inside with some air and enjoy your Sunday. We hope to see everyone in July!

The Border Regulators June 21st. shoot is cancelled because of the predicted rain Saturday night and Sunday morning. We have never had two months in a row to cancel shoots because of rain! We will reschedule the June shoot for next Sunday June 28th. Hope we can all finally get together and have a shoot.
Betty and I mowed the range yesterday and it is really rough from wet ground and heavy cattle walking around and the 9+" of rain last month that washed away some gravel and dirt.
