FitnessNook Private & Semi-private sessions with Reformers and other apparatus. The free classes/courses/workshops are for your benefit. I will continue to breath smoothly.

Group Fitness Classes and private & semi-private Pilates sessions to help you build strength, mobility, and confidence through consistent practice, not pressure. By practicing with one of these online classes/courses/workshops, you understand that yoga, physical fitness and movement includes physical movements as well as an opportunity for relaxation, stress re-education and relief of muscular ten

sion. As is the case with any physical activity, the risk of injury, even serious or disabling, is always present and cannot be entirely eliminated. If I experience any pain or discomfort, I will listen to my body, adjust the posture and ask for support from the teacher. Studio notes from the fitness nook this week.

I’m less than a month from being full time at the studio for a year. A year. Full-time. What a gift and blessing. I didn’t know if it was possible in a small town in Kansas.

This month I really want to take in all I’ve learned/been reminded of, in the last 11 months.

1. I easily get wrapped up in the logistics—from the exercises to the behind the scenes work. I am pretty sure I’m a glass half-empty person who’s worked really hard to be a glass half-full kind of person. Still a work in progress.

2. I’m still a student myself. I have teachers still so I can keep improving as a student and a teacher. Plus to get me out of my head.

3. I have the huge privilege to help others do the same. I love classes. I love private sessions. I really love the quiet when I see the exercise happening without my words. 💛

4. Seeing and helping people move better brings me joy. When someone works until they can master a movement and improve where they are weak and/or want to grow. It’s pretty awesome. People are pretty awesome. So is how God created our bodies to move.

5. I hope (and pray) I will always appreciate a mountain climber and the beauty of focus while in motion.

*The image is of my spine corrector. It’s one of the apparatus’ that Joseph Pilates created to help people be able to do the mat series. It can make some exercises less intimating and more accessible. And then it can make your core feel like it is on fire. 🔥😊

I know schedules are full—but 45-60 minutes to move and recalibrate can make all the difference in how we show up for everything else.

Whether you show up tired or full of energy. You will leave feeling stronger, calmer, and ready to take on the rest of your day. 💕

Let's talk about the Teaser! Beginning this week, I'll break down some of the key elements of different Pilates exercises. Some weeks I'll circle back to break it down on different Pilates apparatus (equipment).

There are so many variations of the teaser. From the mat to many of the apparatus. None of them are easy. I've heard it said, if it feels easy, you may not have figured out the exercise yet. We always start at your core/powerhouse, and work out way out. Core, thighs and feet are important to work on.

One week from today, on Tuesday, September 8, Strength & Stretch makes it to the evening! Class will be weekly at 5:30 pm.

Stretch, strengthen, and restore. This class is wonderful for everyone, from beginner to those who want to slow down a bit and include some extra work for recovery.

This class combines mobility work, balance training, and light dumbbell exercises to help you move better, feel stronger, and leave refreshed in both body and mind.

Sarah looking strong working through Swan Dive on the Wunda Chair!

Swan Dive shows up on the mat, reformer, Cadillac.. and in classes at the studio: Pure Pilates, and another variation in Pilates Define.

It is challenging and the stretch feels amazing! This variation isn’t for everyone, but it has been so cool to see Sarah’s progress from learning how to coordinate what all her body is to do, to now making it look effortless. (It is not, it’s a lot of effort.)🩷
