Due to basketball games being moved to Friday (17th) this week, Baseball Tryouts will now be on Thursday the 16th from 3-5.
- Dress Warm (wear athletic clothes)
- Must have current physical to tryout

The Baseball Tryouts that were moved to Friday, October 4th have been canceled. Tryouts will be moved to February 2025. As soon as we have a date for that we will let everyone know. Praying that everyone is staying safe during these times.

05/01/2024

The WGMS Buffs fell to Westview Monday night with a final score of 4-3. This loss brought an end to the Buffs Season. The Buffs finished 4th place out of 10 teams. We finished 6-5 during the regular season, bringing the first ever winning season to West Greene Middle School’s Baseball program. They finished 1-2 in the tournament losing 4-2 to the #1 seed and 4-3 to the #3 seed. Our finishing record was 7-7. Many school individual records and team record were broken… which will be posted at a later date once gathered completely. The future is bright for WGMS Buffs Baseball!

Also, WGMS Buffs player Si earned All Tournament Team with a strong perfromance across 3 games.

Hitting: .333 (3 for 9) 1 BB/1 R/1 SB.
Pitching: 5.1 IP/1 ER/2 H/5 SO/1.312 ERA
Defense: 6 PO/5 Assists/.917 FPCT

WGMS Buffs fought hard today, in the semifinals of the tournament, against the #1 seed Chuckey Doak Middle. We came up short in the end losing a heartbreaking 4-2. A great team effort overall! Some noteworthy performances came from Skyler, Kyler, and Si.

- Si went 2 for 3 at the plate and also had 4 putouts and 2 assists on defense.

- Skyler pitched 6 innings, giving up 4 runs (3 earned). This was only his second appearance on the mound for the buffs this year.

- Kyler had 6 putouts on Defense with 1 assist!

The Buffs will fight for 3rd place on Monday vs. Westview. The game will be held at Grandview Elementary starting at 5 pm. We are not finished yet!

WGMS Buffs take down South Greene Middle once again in walkoff fashion winning 5-4. They move on to the semifinals against Chuckey Doak. The game will be at Chuckey Doak High School at 2 pm tomorrow (Saturday 27th). This is the first time in WGMS Baseball history that any team has made it to the Semi-Finals (top 4) in the tournament. Come out and support your Buffs tomorrow!

Players of the Game vs. South Greene Middle
(8th Grade Night)

Offensive Player of the Game:

Carter went 2 for 4 at the plate with 2 Doubles, 2 RBI’s, and scored the winning run. Carter also got the win on the mound throwing 3.1 innings.

Defensive Player of the Game:

Kyler had 3 putouts (1.000 fielding %) and 1 assist when he threw out a runner trying to stretch a single into a double. All of the putouts were in key situations, which helped change the momentum of the game.

The WGMS Buffs fought a hard battle last night vs. their in-county rivals of South Greene. We were down by 1 or 2 for the majority of the game. Their perseverance paid off though in the 8th inning as Julian drove in Carter for the winning run, to walk it off. They made History as this was the first time ever that West Greene Middle has beat South Greene Middle in their 4 years of existence. It was a great win as we recognized all of our 8th graders and the hard work they’ve put in.

The Buffs will be back in action at home vs. Chuckey Doak on Monday April 23rd.

The Buffs fought hard last night, going all seven innings against the #1 team in the conference. We struggled to get any runs in with bases loaded, no outs in both the 6th and 7th inning. Very proud of the team for playing their hearts out! We fell 9-4 to an undefeated (in conference play) team. The Buffs are now 5-4 (4-3) on the year.

They are back in action with a Rivalry game tomorrow vs. South Greene Middle School starting at 4:30 pm. JV game to follow. We will also recognize our hard working 8th graders after the Varsity Game concludes around 6:30. Come support your Buffs and the 8th graders as we try to get a crucial conference win.
