If you could see yourselves through my eyes, you would see something truly special.
I see courage every time you step onto the mats, even when you're nervous. I see strength every time you get back up after being taken down. I see determination when you keep practicing a move until you get it right. I see respect, kindness, and character in the way you treat your teammates and coaches.
The skills you are learning in jiu-jitsu are about more than winning matches. You are learning discipline, perseverance, confidence, and how to face challenges without giving up. Those qualities will help you succeed not only on the mats, but throughout your entire life.
Never stop believing in yourselves. Dream big. Set goals. Work hard. Be brave enough to chase the things that matter to you. There will be obstacles along the way, but remember you are stronger, smarter, and more capable than you realize.
One day, I hope you see what I see: a group of incredible young people with unlimited potential and the ability to achieve amazing things.
Keep showing up. Keep growing. Keep believing.
Your future is waiting, and it is brighter than you can imagine. Coach Silvie

Me talking to myself and letting you listenten in.

There will be days when training feels effortless and days when nothing seems to work.

You'll get submitted by techniques you've seen a hundred times. You'll feel tired and frustrated, and wonder if you're making any progress at all.

Keep showing up.

Jiu-Jitsu is not about being the best person in the room today. It's about becoming a better version of yourself than you were yesterday. Every class, every roll, every mistake teaches something valuable.

The art is not earned through talent alone—it is built through consistency, resilience, and the willingness to learn from failure.

Remember that every skilled practitioner you admire was once a beginner. They struggled with the same positions, made the same mistakes, and faced the same doubts. What separated them was not perfection; it was persistence.

Some days you win. Some days you learn. Both are part of the journey.

Trust the process. Embrace the challenges. Celebrate the small improvements that others may never notice. The confidence, discipline, and toughness you develop on the mats will carry into every area of your life.

Keep training. Keep learning. Keep growing.
Your future self will thank you for every day you chose not to quit.

As my professor once told me, the hardest thing is coming through the gym doors.
