Leighann’s coaching programs have a reputation for an environment of inspired learning for ‘kids’ age 4 to 94. As the self-titled ‘Director of Fun,’ Leighann engages students with enthusiasm, educates with eagerness and inspires with ingenuity. Leighann’s career has taken her full circle from mentee to mentor. Since the start of her career as
a PGM Student at Methodist University, where as a player she aided her team in winning the national championship, she has had the opportunity to work for great instructors including Dr. Jim Suttie and Kevin Weeks (Cog Hill, Chicago, IL), Dana Rader, Julie Cole, Jason Sutton and Jay Reid (Dana Rader Golf School, Charlotte, N.C), Denise St. In addition, her search for knowledge has brought her in contact with many other highly acclaimed teaching professionals who have influenced, enlightened and shaped her philosophies. Leighann’s experience in intercollegiate athletics as assistant coach at Penn State and head coach at The University of Richmond also impact her philosophy and coaching style on the lesson tee. Since founding the team at Randolph-Macon College she has been able to merge working in a traditional green-grass golf setting with teaching and coaching (Head Professional at The Hollows Golf Club, First Assistant at Richmond Country Club, Director of Instruction at Independence Golf Club and Director of Instruction at Magnolia Green Golf Club.) She remains passionate about developing students, players & future professionals. Leighann and her husband Jay (Director of Golf at the College of William & Mary) were married the summer of 2006 in Seattle, WA. They reside in Richmond with their 13 year old Australian shepherd/collie service dog, Scout. Recognitions
