Evelyn decided she wanted to take a walk. This is where she took me…

This beautiful Specialized Roubaix is receiving a Podium tune to get it back to like-new condition. What’s involved in a Podium Tune?

- The wheels get cleaned and trued
- The hub caps get taken off and the bearings are assessed and lubed
- The free hub is cleaned and greased
- The chain and cassette get put in the parts cleaner
- The drivetrain is disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled
- The frame gets a deep cleaning
- All components are reinstalled
- All components are adjusted correctly

This job starts at $250 and takes about 2 hours (assuming there’s no distractions).

A customer walked in and asked if he could buy some riding gloves. I told him we don’t have any on hand right now.

Don’t let the size fool you. These scooter tires are no joke. It takes all three 14” tire levers to get one tire off. I would put it in our fancy tire remover, but the bearings are too small and I count put it on the machine.

Shorter and smaller crankset, larger cassette, new chain, new bar tape, and a Podium tune to make sure everything else is clean. This bike is Race Ready. 😎

Another beautiful rebuild. Out with the old school 5700 series 105 and in with the newer R7000 105. 🤘🏼

This was certainly a fun build. This is the work I miss most; bringing an older bike back to life with quality components. I’ll be totally honest, e-bikes have taken the joy out of this trade and I’m not the only mechanic to feel this way. It was good to get my hands on a bicycle and make it work better than new.
