The Serious Part:
I just went through this with my mom, I was lucky. A LOT of local family to lean on, no financial hardship and very responsive chemo treatment. And while not easy, by any measure, it went literally as well as it could've.
This. is not. That.
Cancer is different for everyone. Kevin is 36 and single. Eileen, Kelly, Paul and their family are his support system.
Everyone is there in the beginning, everyone wants to help . . . . then it gets quiet. People go back to their busy lives. The need for assistance and support doesn't fade nearly as quickly. Keep these amazing people in your thoughts. A small check-in or kind words can help get people through the toughest of times, but if WE can come together to alleviate even 2% of this family's overall stress, it'll be worth it.
