The city received complaints regarding a flag being burned last night in the downtown area. This incident was part of a planned flag retirement ceremony by a local Boy Scout Troop. This ceremony was following the US Flag Code which states that when a flag is no longer in a condition fit for display it should be disposed of in a dignified manner, preferably by burning. We are appreciative of this organization for retiring these flags in the proper, respectful manner. We encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with the US Flag Code.
