Not just a 3-Day weekend - remembering those that gave it all ♥️

Good morning Fans! We were sitting back this morning thinking about where this all started and how far we've come. 9 Years ago today, your Race Director Jamie Summerlin took off on what would end up being the longest run of his life - a 100 day, 3,452 mile run across America in support of our veterans. That run and subsequent book about the journey entitled Freedom Run, worked to raise awareness for our heroes that face many challenges when they return home. It helped start Operation Welcome Home, the organization that the Morgantown Marathon continues to support, and has put over 600 veterans back to full time work since 2012 when Jamie stepped off on that journey with his family.

You can help continue that mission by joining us on Oct 10th for the Mountain Mama 8k, Half Marathon, or Morgantown Marathon. You can also honor a military hero of your own through the Hero Mile campaign on our website, where a mile of the race will be dedicated and recognized with a sign at the beginning of that mile.
