If I am going to have the tournament restarted in 2024, I have to bring in some money to get things started. Tournament expenses will be somewhere in the range of $500-$600. This includes a few one-time purchases that won't be needed for future tournaments.

I have these options and can do one, or a combination:

1. Charge an entry fee to all schools
2. Get a sponsor(s)
3. Fund raise

I would prefer option 2 and/or 3. I am considering hosting a tennis tournament this fall, as a fundraiser to cover the expenses of the Green River Invitational. The Green River Invitational is for HS players only. This proposed fall event would be for everyone.

Check out Green River Area Racquet & Paddle Sports post about the Morgantown City Park's courts being almost finished.

If the facilities are done correctly and maintained correctly, I will resume the Green River Invitational Tennis Tournament next year (spring 2024)

I hate to have to do this, but I am no longer confident that the City of Morgantown, KY will have the tennis facilities/park finished by the scheduled tournament date, so I am going to have to scrap the 2023 Green River Invitational Tennis Tournament.

At this point, I would like to consider moving this event for 2024, if the tournament is to be put on, in the future. If someone has a facility with a good quantity & quality courts and you would be interested in hosting the tournament, please message me.

Each draw (Girls Singles, Girls Doubles, Boys Singles, Boys Doubles) has 4 first round matches, 2 semifinal matches, 2 backdraw semifinal matches, a main draw final, and a backdraw final. 10 matches total. 10 matches total for each of the four draws, for a grand total of 40 matches. These 40 matches are played over the course of 2 days.

If the tournament could be moved to a large enough facility, I may even look at expanding the draws to include more participants/schools in the future.

Heads up! I intend to be announcing 2023 tournament dates within the next few days and inviting teams to enter.

The previous post about potential schools for the 2023 tournament is only an hour old. Not long after I sent it, I also sent out an email to some coaches. I have already heard from four schools. One each from the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th regions!

The Morgantown City Park is supposed to be finished in September 2022. If that is the case and the tennis facilities are adequate, I will resume the Green River Invitational Tennis Tournament in 2023, after a 10 year hiatus. This message is for interested coaches and sponsors.

Coaches: I am looking for 3 schools to take part. Butler County (I assume) will be the 4th. Just like regionals, your girls and boys teams will need to each enter 2 singles players and 2 doubles teams. I dont have a firm date yet, but I will aim for a Friday (quarterfinals) and Saturday (semifinals and finals). There will be a FMLC backdraw, guaranteeing everybody gets at least 2 matches. There will also be trophies for the top girls team and the top boys team.

I would like to have at least 2 regions represented if at all possible. It would be great if 4 different regions are represented. Coaches: Please contact me if you are interested in bringing your teams to the tournament.

Interested Sponsors
Covering costs. With no Butler Co Tennis Association and with me not being the BCHS Tennis Coach, I need to find a way to cover costs.

Here are my options:

1. Charge schools an entry fee. I'd prefer not to do this.

2. Secure enough sponsors to cover the costs

3. Sell items to cover the costs. Concessions, a tournament shirt, a tournament towel, etc.

4. Some combination of the above options (selling a tournament tee, with sponsors names listed on it)

My expenses:

Balls - 40 cans will cover the tournament. $120-$150
Trophies - 26 trophies - $250-$300
Optional Items
4 large tournament draws. (This would be a 1x purchase, as boards would be reused every year). I am guessing these boards would be $15-$40 each, so up of $160 total.
Various other tournament-related supplies ($25-$40)

Anyone who does sponsor, your contribution will be acknowledged and appreciated.

Also: Food trucks. I would be interested in possibly having a food truck at the tournament on Saturday. A food truck that would be interested in providing part of your proceeds to cover tournament costs. If you have a food truck that would be interested, please contact me. I will consider any and all trucks who contact me and make a decision on whether or not to go with a food truck at a later date. Honestly, part of this decision could be based on whether or not local restaurants choose to be sponsors.
