Morgan City Power Boat Association Morgan City Power Boat Association
Eastern Divisional Racing for Inboard and Outboard Boats FIRST OF ALL LET ME BEGIN BY TELLING YOU SOME HISTORY ABOUT MCPBA.

SOME FIFTY PLUS YEARS A HANDLE FULL OF GUYS STARTED RACING WITH SOME GUYS FROM NEW ORLEANS. THOSE GUYS BEING SAM J. SIRACUSA AND ANTHONY PATTI. WANTING TO GET THE CITY INVOLVED THEY WENT TO DR. BROWNELL AND GOT HIM INVOLVED THUS FORMING TRI CITY BOAT CLUB. THIS SMALL BOAT CLUB HAS GROWN OVER THE YEARS THUS FORMING MORGAN CITY POWER BOAT ASSOCIATION. THEY RACED IN THE ATCHAFALAYA UNDER AMERICAN P

OWER BOAT ASSOCIATION'S SANCTION THROUGH NEW ORLEANS POWER BOAT ASSOCIATION. AFTER REALIZING THAT THERE WAS A WATERWAY NOT TOO FAR AWAY RIGHT AT OUR FINGERTIPS IT WAS TIME TO INTRODUCE TO THE COUNTRY ONE OF THE BEST RACE COURSES IN THE NATION. STILL IS RECOGNIZED BY ANYBODY IN MORGAN CITY AND MANY WHO ARE STILL AROUND THE RACING CIRCUIT AS THE RACE COURSE THAT HAS BROKEN RECORDS. THE FIRST RACE ON LAKE PALOURDE WAS JULY 2, 1958, MY THIRD BIRTHDAY. SO WHEN I SAY THAT I GREW UP DOING THIS, I ABSOLUTELY DID. FROM THAT TIME THE RACES CONTINUED TO MAKE THE ORGANIZATION EVEN STRONGER. IN 1962 UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF JOSEPH C. SIRACUSA MCPBA WAS RECOGNIZED FINALLY AS BEING INCORPORAED AND HOT NEWS ACROSS THE COUNTRY AS THE RACE COURSE WHERE RECORDS WERE BROKEN, BRINGING IN BOATS FROM AS FAR AWAY AS ITALY. THROUGH THE YEARS MCPBA HAS BEEN THRU GOOD TIMES AND NOT SO GOOD TIMES, BUT WE HAVE SURVIVED THEM ALL. OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS MCPBA HAS ENDURED EVEN MORE CHANGES ...BUT CHANGES THAT WILL HELP OUR CLUB CONTINUE WITH WHAT WE ARE DOING AND BRING IN SOME OF THE OLD.

2012 BROUGHT OUTBOARD RACES ON LAKE PALOURDE AND A REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 44 YEARS HAVE A QUEEN TO HELP PROMOTE RACING ALL THRU THE YEAR INSTE AD OF JUST ONE TIME A YEAR. HAVING A QUEEN/REPRESENTATIVE KEEPS THE FLOW OF YOUNGER PEOPLE INTERESTED IN THE SPORT, THUS KEEPING IT GOING LONG AFTER I AM GONE. I TRULY HOPE THAT YOU CHOOSE TO HELP US INSTEAD OF SITTING ON THE SIDELINES. OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS MCPBA WILL BE SUPER ACTIVE BECAUSE I SAID WHEN I TOOK THIS CLUB OVER THREE YEARS AGO THAT THERE WOULD BE RACES ON THAT LAKE AGAIN AND LOTS OF THEM. WE ARE PREPARING FOR THE EASTERN DIVISIONALS THIS YEAR AND NEXT, BUT IF POSSIBLE IN 2015 THE NATIONALS. THIS WOULD BRING RACERS, SPECTATORS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY ONCE AGAIN, THUS UPPING THE ECONOMY IN MORGAN CITY. I HUMBLY ASK FOR YOUR SUPPORT FOR MORGAN CITY POWER BOAT ASSOCIATION. I, REMAIN,

MARIE E. SIRACUSA

I k ow that it has this Fourth of July weekend but we still don't have enough money for races. Our club is trying very hard to get things back together but the economy is whipping our butts. Race fans pray for better timed. We miss the lake very much. God bless and thanks for you're co tinued interest.

On behalf of MCPBA we would like to thank all of the veterans for serving our country. I would also like to wish the ( don't want to say wrong name) Freedom Riders organization putting on the event at the judges stand lots of good vendor sales and dunk Junior lots of times. All of their proceeds go the Wounded Warriors project. God bless and have a safe and fun remainder of weekend.

Just a note of thanks for any inquiries about the races. I apologize because I did not have the stamina to prepare for this year after my hip replacement surgery. I promise over this next year we will dedicate our time, mine and the rest of our officers and volunteers to trying for next year and making it better.
I remain, Marie Siracusa, Commodore

To my fb and boat racing family I couldn't pass posting this on my birthday.
A lot of you have heard me boast that the very first boat race on Lake Palourde was July 2, 1958. My third birthday. Sometimes I felt it was a curse when I was a teenager that my birthday was all about the races. What I didn't realize at that time they were and still are the best and most wonderful times of my life. The good ones the fortunate times of having a helluva day of racing or even the windy rainy ass ones getting blown out.
This year we couldn't. My health did not allow me to put forth the mental and physical effort that it takes to do a race and all the trimmings. If we start now we could pull it off next year.
I sincerely appreciate the inquiries on fb about them. So let's look forward to 2015 and make it better than ever. After all it will be my birthday again.
In the meantime I will be begging for money so sponsors look out and you have a year. Thank you for your generosity thru the years and hope for many more.
Happy Fourth of July America!
