At Grandmaster Lewis' Martial Arts we not only teach self-defense, we build character through inner-strength, courage, discipline, and respect. We offer classes for ages 4 & up held in Morehead City, Beaufort, & Otway. You will never be asked to sign a contract at Grandmaster Lewis' Martial Arts. Our students stay at our school because they want to train with us, and not because they are bound by a contract. No hassle, no sales pitch, no contracts. Just great classes! Grandmaster Russell Lewis was born in Sealevel. He grew up between Down East and Beaufort and is now a 8th Degree Black Belt and two-time Taekwondo World Champion in fighting and five-time World Champion in forms. He also has 12 National Taekwondo Championships titles! Grandmaster Lewis holds advanced black belts in several National and International organizations. Grandmaster Lewis' Martial Arts was voted 2016 Top 3 Martial Arts Schools in the country by the Universal Martial Arts Association! The UMAA is a Multi-style Organization currently in 33 countries. Our Grandmaster Lewis Martial Arts family is involved in something really special!

One of our karate moms, Jennifer is directing the upcoming production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. at Carteret Community Theatre, and one of our karate students, Harper is performing in the show. That makes this one extra exciting for us!

I’m really proud to see members of our karate family sharing their talents on stage.

If you’re looking for something fun to do with the family, this is a great show to come see. Community theatre productions take a lot of heart and hard work, and these kids are going to put on a spectacular performance.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. runs March 20th–29th.

Master Lewis' Taekwondo is locally owned and family operated by Russ Lewis. Chief Master Lewis has been sharing the benefits of martial arts in Carteret County since 1990. Our professional and experienced instructors have dedicated their lives to sharing the many benefits of martial arts with the community. He was certified to teach Taekwondo in 1994 by the American Taekwondo Association. Chief Master Russ Lewis holds advanced black belts in several National and International organizations. His Asian marital arts lineage has been documented back to the 1600s! He has also trained in and teaches both Glima - the martial arts of the Vikings!
